Thanks so much! Anyone have any comments on these? Specifically vs the Google home one I'm replacing?

I've got two Chromecast audios hooked up to receivers and one mini and the Google home I'm returning to Amazon...

Anyone have any tips? My streaming is finnnacy with speakers not playing or dropping out.

It's so close to perfect! I'm still bummed I can't play my tv audio chromecasted over my speakers anymore. Unless... anyone able to?

good price. nothing will beat when they were on clearance at target for 30 bucks like a year ago, but i would have gladly paid 50 bucks for the one i ended up with. these things actually sound pretty great. i have one mounted up in my kitchen for cooking tunes.

Google was able to revert the bad changes they made to speaker groups for the Nest Audio since the Sonos infringement was determined to not hold enough water which is great. Being able to pair two and fire them stereo is the selling point for these (and wow, this is conveniently a 2-pack, what are the odds).

If your CC audio is on a mesh system, that'll happen. I got a non mesh router set to 2.4ghz - and that works.

Oh, are we able to easily group again? I miss that.

CC Audios are very old now and probably not getting performance and compatibility updates. They also only run on the 2.4ghz WiFi radio which leads to connection issues with your 5ghz devices.

So does that mean you can cast to a Chromecast on a TV AND play the audio to your speakers again? How do you do it?

In my experience... No. These speakers are very buggy with groups and pairs. Unless something recently changed.

I think they reverted after the SONOS judgement in June/July. They should be better now.

Mine aren't bad, once on a non-mesh. On a mesh, I could only see the speakers that were attached to the node that my phone was also connected to.

I just recently got the $15 linksys one from woot and moved over to that - but before that I was using my ISP provided router for IOT stuff and my own router for mesh stuff.

Ive seen it go for lower, but this is the typical pricing you'd see around like black friday. I feel like Google has to release a newer version of this soon since there arent any new software updates for it and even tho they won the Sonos software debacle they didnt give it any of the expected features afterwards.

I want a new speaker for my kitchen and thought about getting a Nest Hub Max but the existing one is 5 years old at this point and it's biggest complaint is how slow it is. I saw this article back in April: https://9to5google.com/2024/04/23...x-spotted/

Things are really heating up for Google's 2024 hardware releases, and the hits keep coming. In the latest update to the Google Home app, our team has found evidence of a new Nest Audio speaker and, surprisingly, a new Nest Hub Max.
Impending updates to Nest speakers including a new Nest Hub Max. Thought maybe spring announcement. Nothing. Thought maybe at the AI event. Nothing. Thought maybe the Pixel event... Nothing. I know the second I pull the trigger on a new speaker they'll announce the new models.

That's a crappy mesh implementation causing that. Mine are on a mesh, and a totally different SSID, but work great for me.
