It seems like the Acer laptop division's business model is to create devices that are really intriguing at first glance due to their great specs for the price, but they all come with at least one really bad compromise that makes the device unappealing. Be it a poor screen, subpar thermals, or a really small battery. Really frustrating because Acer always seems so close to getting it right.
The specs are pretty good for this price point, except the screen doesn't have very high resolution, if you care. It also weighs about 4 lbs - which is somewhat typical at this price point or a little lighter than the 4.5 lbs you often see at $600.
Black Friday is coming so if you can hold off, you'd likely find something better.

Now to figure out what corners are cut between this Walmart model and the normal models. (Slower memory, missing 2nd m.2 slot, etc).

I'm curious if this is thunderbolt 3 (likely at this price point) or thunderbolt 4 (unlikely) allowing for an external GPU?

The integrated Intel Iris graphics are not great for any kind of gaming on this machine. Without an e-GPU, it's a no go for anything more than basic gaming at lower settings.

The specs on ASUS website does say it is USB4 - "USB Type-C port supporting: USB4 40Gbps, DisplayPort over USB-C, Thunderbolt 4, USB charging 5 V; 3 A, DC-in port 19 V; 65 W"
I can't comment on the graphics as I am not that much of a graphics intensive user.

Get a laptop with a GPU if you want to game.

Thanks for posting this OP Smilie

Anyone know if this video correctly describes the laptop as having just the one m2 drive slot (not complaining at this price mind you ! but a good to know kind of thing )

What do you see as the compromise with this one?

Sincere question- the 32GB RAM, 1TB storage, Thunderbolt 4, and <4 lbs seems pretty solid to me
