This offer seems to work on any gift card sold by "ACI Gift Cards, LLC., an Amazon company", digital or physical. If it's sold by "Amazon.com Services LLC," it won't work. For instance, if you're looking to buy a PlayStation gift card, the discount applies to the physical version (sold by ACI), but not the digital (sold by Amazon.com Services).

i will only buy physical gcs wit hard denominations, i will never run the risk and get burned again. few years ago, i had a discount on amazon, can't remember if it was amex or disc. anyway, let's say i ordered up a $50 gc and i chose the variable rate gc and with the discount, the final total was $40. guess what? they sent me a gc with $40 on it; exactly what i paid for.

won't make that mistake again. physical gcs only, hard denominations and not the variable ones even if it means i have to order multiple smaller value cards. that really pissed me off because it wasn't the first time i order gcs on a discount and so somebody made a mistake and i couldn't complain.

lesson learned.

If I use this deal now does it mean I'm less likely to be eligible the next time when it's offered?

Right now I'm eligible for 30% off but I don't have anything important to buy. Would prefer to stay "eligible" for the next time it's offered (and perhaps get a higher discount too).

Got 40% like a week ago but didn't use it. Made a purchase yesterday and instead got 30% off. When I click the link today, it shows 30% discount. Either the original popup had an error or the offer is constantly refreshing.

Either way used it on the $200 ipad. Will be an x-mas present.

Last time I order physical gift card with 40% off and Amazon loss it in the mail, it clearly show in the transaction that they lost it and didn't deliver, they ask me to fill out a form for investigation, I specified I want an item resent and they didn't even look and just credit it back to my account, so I lost my 40% off ($40), when I complained, they care less and keep saying nothing they can do.

yep that's also part of the risk. for gcs, i use amazon locker delivery only. gcs usually come in a flat envelope and there are thieves everywhere from the neighborhood to the delivery guys; stealing gcs. i once opened a locker with the code and it was empty; no package. i once opened a locker and the padded envelope was there but was not sealed and there was nothing inside. so i just got an empty envelope.

They refresh so it's always wise to use the offer as soon as possible.

for sure; often within hours. in fact, years ago i keep a list for this exact purpose so i don't have to waste any time looking for filler to hit a dollar amount or go off searching for ship/sold amazon. for simplicity, it's gcs only but if i have to buy goods because i got a big percentage....

Not related to this deal but I have found Amazon third party GC handling inferior than others. I had a gift card from them that I mistakenly deleted after few months and they couldn't send me a duplicate. It is six month but I am able to resend or access gift card from other website like bestbuy, target, costco even after many months. I complained but that investigation didn't go anywhere since its been now 6-8 months. If anyone has any different experience then let me know.

Everybody had that same problem early on but I guess Amazon hasn't evolved. Never going to happen to me again, I either write down the details or take a photo or I add it but never again do I turn over responsibility to any retailer because I know they don't care about gcs to begin with.

Amazon doesn't believe in gc numbers which is why the only way to spend them is add them to your account first and take a credit which prevents others from using it. Once you receive a GC for yourself or someone else, there's no reason to hang onto it. They probably don't believe in retaining that info.
