The best monitor I've ever used. Single handedly made me believe in hdr. The aw3423dwf has worse hdr than this one. However the dwf does hace upgradable firmware. But it's been years and the hdr is still crap in comparison because it loses the gsync module. I'd by the dw 10 times out of 10 over the dwf. Buy this you won't regret it!
The comparison you make is blatantly WRONG. They use the same panel and have almost identical picture quality. The DW is gsync certified but dwf has freesync which in the real word works just as well. The DW has an extra fan and is reported to be "nosier' than the DWF. Both panels accept firmware updates. The DWF is newer and is more compatible with game consoles, quieter, and is usually $100 cheaper when on sale ($699). And again, the picture quality including HDR is the same.

Um. While they do use the same panel. I'm not all caps WRONG. I'm most assuredly correct. See Linus review on this.

You're welcome. I'll take an apology. But considering it's the internet you'll link some tangential review in an effort to justify your position.

That all said. There are forums posts discussing the issues with hdr on the dwf vs the dw as well.

But you do you.

Yes, I will and you're still wrong. If you had bothered to investigate further or read the recent comments on the link you provided you would see that the firmware was updated and there was now not a difference.

Please don't spread misinformation. The DW firmware is able to be updated. I have done so myself. Here is a link to the firmware update. https://www.dell.com/support/home...dw-monitor

You can also search on Google for "AW3423DW firmware update". Do note there is no F.
There were none when I was researching, so my bad. Upon further research, it looks like only people with NVIDIA GPU's can update it and there's still no patch on it for uncapped HDR, so my point stands. The firmware update only added display warning and improved latency. The excessive heat the DW generates compared to the DWF hasn't been addressed either.

No. True HDR is HDR 10: 400 is what the DW is rated at. Dell hard capped it to save money on burn in replacements. A lot of companies are bad at that. If you see "HDR 400, 600" etc., it's a display with a software locked HDR. They uncapped it on the DWF, not the DW. It's an easy search. The DW generates a lot more heat than the DWF, which is known to accelerate burn in, dirty screen and spotting.

If you want it in layman's terms, the DWF has 60% more native peak brightness than the DW. It's not a deal breaker, but the newer DWF is cheaper right now and has firmware updates everybody can use. I stand by what I said.

You should've just said uncapped HDR brightness. I've had my DW for 2.5 years with no issue. I use it in HDR Trueblack 400 instead of the hdr1000 mode. I let the monitor do its pixel refresh and panel refresh when it asks. I don't have brightness issues. I don't baby the monitor. I don't have to ask if you own this monitor since you clearly don't. I'll leave this here for others to inform themselves https://www.rtings.com/monitor/to...1231/35256

You are wrong. You can't look at any material less than 9 months old or it'll be inaccurate from the time the last DWF firmware update was released. Even RTINGS put the DWF over the DW, sooo…
