If you buy a 6 pack of these they are slightly cheaper on Amazon with subscribe & save $6.69 each. They send in a sturdy box which is great for storage. it's better to save a camelcamelcamel amazon search for when these are on sale. Changing these out more frequently means your AC blower in your attic won't have to work so hard.

Be careful.. I bought 18x30 of these hdx and they folded in my return grill.... letting in unfiltered air. I've never had issues with the cheaper 30 day filters or 3M ones.

As mentioned multiple times in the Aerostar filter thread: don't use these unless your HVAC installer or system specifically says to. Going over MERV 8 reduces airflow too much, causing a pressure drop that can (and over the long term, likely will) damage your HVAC equipment.

HVAC filters are not there to improve your air quality, they are there to protect the equipment. If you want to improve your indoor air quality, use an air purifier.

Surface area makes the difference. Seems like cheap merv 8 can restric flow more than merv10 that suppose to filter more stuff.

I've been using 3m merv10 filters with no issues with furnace. Installer put merv10 as well.

The deal is for 1" filter. 3m filter is 4" thick but goes for $40

When Costco is on sale, two for $35. $40 is regular price.

Have brother (a/c tech) and friends that own A/C businesses. They have all said if you are going to use filter, go with the cheapest and change as often as every month. If you have issues with air quality, MERV 7/8 max, otherwise too much strain on ac equipment, more so in hot areas
Had my A/C unit completely go out last year (was 23 years old). A friend that owned an A/C business changed everything for $7500 total. He said most of the repairs he is called out for are due to A/C units working too hard due to people using high MERV filters and expecting miracles just because of the high rating

Watch the project farm YouTube video. Not all high merv filters are that restrictive. Some have extra pleats/material to make up for it. Not saying you probably shouldn't use a purifier instead though as the cost of these is pretty high
