Which Costco deal are you referring to? If I search "Costco Desktop" the latest deal I get is a $1400 one, which is a completely different budget range from this.

The one for $850? If you read the reviews on Costco and Slickdeals it's riddled with issues.

Is a machine like this overkill for home office use if you don't game much? Price seems reasonable but a little more memory would prob be good too. If this had a 1T drive I would be all over it.

Sort of. It is overkill in graphics performance if you're not gaming. The CPU is good for gaming but not ideal for high performance workstation tasks requiring many cores. If you're just doing home office use, the CPU is more than enough power, but the biggest issue is that it's not very power efficient. Further, because it's a gaming chip, it doesn't have an integrated GPU, meaning you need the discrete graphics card that comes with this. If it had integrated graphics, I'd say get this, pull the Nvidia 4060 out and sell it, but that's not possible with this CPU -- and the 4060 will be an electricity hog too.

Overall, you'd spend more in electricity on this machine over a more efficient platform. I'd look for something more optimized to your use case, you should be able to find a more power efficient CPU/iGPU and motherboard with a 1-2TB SSD and 32GB of RAM (not necessary, but nice to have for future proofing) at a similar or lower cost.

How well would this system work on a game whose minimum specs are for an Intel core I7 6000k and recommended specs are an Intel core I7 10700k?
