intel isn't even making the chip in-house and is being made by TSMC, which is insane considering intel has its own fabrication. it was released ahead of schedule as an answer to the ultra-efficient arm chips and the only way they can make it is to have someone else make the chip.
so if you buy this device, you're only 1 generation behind, but it was a huge improvement. if you're spending $1500+ for a device, you would wanna know of something like this
First, not all Ultra 200 series will be lunar lake. They will also include arrow lake at the end of the year and most likely refreshed meteor lake or refreshed raptor lake too. Just like how the U series of meteor lake (current generation) are actually refreshed raptor lake (previous generation).

Second, lunar lake (intel series 2) doesn't beat the current meteor lake (intel series 1) in all aspects so you can't really say it "absolutely demolishes" the previous generation.
Lunar lake has worse multicore performance due to losing hyperthreading and only having 8 CPU cores (4 P cores + 4 E cores), so only having 8 threads.

As for the GPU, yea, lunar lake will likely offer the fastest integrated GPU out there. Even faster than AMD's latest 890m. However, meteor lake's GPU is no slouch as it's just under AMD's (same generation as meteor lake) 780m (so a huge improvement over raptor lake).
Furthermore, since lunar lake will be new, there likely won't be any good deals this season. And if there happen to be a few sales, they'll still pale in comparison with deals on meteor lake models since, if they're no longer the newest generation, they'll be more heavily priced down.
So with meteor lake, buyers can get better multicore performance along with better deals while with lunar lake, buyers can get better battery/gpu performance, but paying close to full price without much of a deal (obviously, the latest and greatest will cost more).
I mean, this is slickdeals, right? So people are going to be looking for good deals and heavily priced down items. This isn't the pc master race subreddit. This is slickdeals.
Also, when lunar lake really starts going on sale mid/end of next year, there's going to be the next gen coming up again. Next year, it's going to be panther lake, which will again be a huge improvement (for example, for the GPU, there will be 12 Arc Xe3 Celestial cores in panther lake compared to the 8 Arc Xe2 Battlemage cores in lunar lake).
So you're going to wait again? At that rate, you'll be waiting forever and never actually making a purchase.
