No built in NPU on this chip. May or may not be important to you based on your use case

I DO NOT understand the pricing here. This one seems better in every way and its $100 less.

This is an i5 versus OP's i7. Also, it has a 16 inch screen versus a 14 inch screen - that could be a pro or con depending on what your needs are.

14 inch laptop are more portable and usually way lighter. This makes it more suitable for taking the laptop out to school for example.

16 inch is more for home use.

This i5 is faster than that last gen i7. Different product line.

And typically 16" are costlier, so again, confusion mounts as to the $600 price.

Unless you are using it as a doorstop, then 4.14 lbs is not better than 3.35 lbs for MOST people.

Not necessarily true depending on the laptop. It's harder to fit everything in a 14" chassis compared to a 15 or 16" laptop so they are usually more expensive (they are typically also higher in demand because they are considered the sweet spot in size and portability).

But the real answer to your question for this example, sometimes a product just goes on sale but it doesn't mean the whole entire product line needs to go on sale, perhaps because they are not as in demand or not selling well (again see above for reasoning).

The i5 is an "Ultra" So its Meteor lake, uses DDR5.

The i7 is Raptor Lake. Slower and with DDR4.

The Ultra 5 125U has 2 NPU cores, 4-core iGPU (Arc).

14inch laptops will always cost more for comparable device with larger screen.

Most people want a portable laptop.

Perhaps it is justified to pay for a smaller screen. if that is what one needs.
