I keep wondering what the catch is with this monitor. My son was looking for a budget gaming monitor, and for $160 this offers an IPS panel, 1 ms, 170 htz refresh and g-sync and HDR as well. The nits are crappy at only 400 peak, but for this price range I expect that. What am I missing here?

Its not really G-Sync compatible out of the box. You will have to manually enable it. Costco has a bad habit calling everything g-sync compatible when its not.

Thanks for the reply! Is there something you have to do or is it just in the monitor menu options or something like that? If it's just a matter of turning on some setting, I can live with that, but if it's more "yeah, technically it's g-sync, but it can't do most of the things" , that's another matter.

Just need to enable it in the Nvidia Control panel. IE Check Gsync box. It should work as most hardware is cross compatible and its really just a selling point today. Here is a link to explain all the propaganda haha https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQdo67SjIHk (hope the video link is allowed Smilie

Thank you, much appreciated. I went ahead and ordered one. It's costco, so if it sucks it's not hard to just box back up and return it.

What's the point of G-Sync/Freesync when the refresh rate is high like in this case 170Hz? Trying to understand if not having Freesync is going to be a problem or not as I'm just using integrated GPU at this time. I'll be looking to get Nvidia GPU down the road right now if I don't freesync enabled monitor but only a high refresh rate, what will I miss out on? Also, do these high refresh rate monitor pretty much require dedicated GPU or iGPU enough? I have Ryzen 7700x.

G-Sync is good for screen tearing. Screen tearing can happen on any refresh rate. If you want a screen that doesn't have screen tearing then get an OLED montior.

I got 2 of these monitors, and they are great. Color is deep, refresh rate is great. I replaced my 2k 144hz monitor from 2018, which is wild cause that monitor costed me $600 at the time and now its going for $160.

Hello. I bought this monitor today to connect to my iPad Pro 3rd Generation 11". I was under the impression I would be able to directly connect the iPad to the monitor with my USB C cable. Unfortunately it didn't work fully. The iPad recognized the monitor in that it continued to charge as a pass through, but the monitor did not recognize the iPad. It kept saying no signal hdmi 1. What am I doing wrong? Any help would be most appreciated!

Eta: I contacted both Apple and MSI and no one could help.

When I checked online it said, "Item may be available in your local warehouse, prices may vary." so would by YMMV. Try using the instacart same day shipping to check your local warehouses.

Download the Costco app. It has a new function where you can check availability for individual warehouses. If that's not an option, call the warehouse directly with the item number and they will look it up for you. Been doing it for years and the employees don't mind!
