I was just going to post this. Great price and by far the lowest price ever. The previous lowest price was around $100, I believe.

I'm here sweating because I need to remove the rust under my car to undercoat it myself and I didn't think this tool would go on sale so soon...lol

Is that a use-case for this? I had the same thought but really only the large frame parts could accommodate the head size of this or is it this in conjunction with something like a dye grinder?

I was looking at doing this as well. What is the benefit of this tool over a wire brush drill attachment for light prep and coating with Rust Recover?

Yes, I've seen some people on youtube using it for that. It seems effective for large areas under the car and maybe a dye grinder for the corners you can't reach

I'm going off things I've seen over time so my case may not be the same as someone else but it looks wide enough to remove rust from a large area and it removes it quickly and a little more even. I've seen so many mixed perspectives so I concluded removing the rust all together and then coating with self etching primer followed by whatever undercoating I wanted to use would be my best case

Apparently it spins the opposite direction of what I'd want, expelling debris back towards you instead of out front. I'm not seeing the safety advantage of that

They make smaller ones that would be lighter and work better in the tight spots

I think that's because it would be more difficult and less safe to use if the spin direction was pulling the tool towards you. If it catches something it will jump towards you. Better that debris is flung towards you than the tool. Same deal with circular saws and belt sanders.

I'm not sure about it being more difficult to use in opposite spin but on safety I'm persuaded, especially after seeing that it can be locked into power-on, thanks

I wouldn't put a straight stripping speed test as the final determinator for purchasing this tool. As the name entitles, it's a surface conditioning tool. Could be used as a final beauty pass on metal; throw a wire brush wheel on it and it could be used for a raised grain appearance on wood. Many uses, but yes use the tool most applicable to the task.
