Seems Ikea still carries a much less expensive Lego storage set, if you'd rather go another route.

IKEA set: 140 cubic inches.
Costco set: 2800 cubic inches.

Either way though, we're still talking at least ~10x less storage space. So the point stands that they're really not comparable items.
From either a practical point or a decorative point:
Costco: much larger storage space, large bright and colorful, more playful, robust child-proof build quality
Ikea: smaller storage space, minimalist, more "grown-up"?, more fragile build quality
Some people will certainly prefer the Ikea ones, some people will surely prefer to Costco ones, but I can't imagine there being any overlap where someone would see one as substitutable in their situation for the other.
Another advantage of the Ikea ones is that the tops can actually be built on top of.
They'll also fit much nicer on a table top. Again: seems like the Ikea ones are designed for table-top play, the Costco ones easier for child floor-play. Etc etc. They just aren't comparable.

From my understanding, unless I'm wrong, cubic inches is LxWxH so using the outside dimensions given on their respective websites the numbers are below:
IKEA - 203.43 cubic inches (each, there are 3 in the set) = ~610 cubic inches for the set
Costco set = ~ 2,751 cubic inches
The problem with the Costco set is that the outside dimensions include the studs at the top (no storage there) and per the picture in the review on the Lego site you're also losing about 1.25" of storage with the raised floor of the block. If you try and estimate the cubic inches taking this into consideration (probably only get about 4.8" of height in reality), you can still get about 3x the storage in these Lego blocks. Honestly, like you mentioned, they are so different in looks that the people who buy each of these will be looking for different things.
Just trying to pint out that the storage space was not as far apart as the other post made it seem, unless I'm wrong on the calculations of cubic inches. I'm thinking of getting some of these (maybe the Lego heads too) and also get the IKEA ones. I think the IKEA ones work great for keeping the bricks of a specific set together in one tub without mixing them up with others, and they have a space where you can label them too. IKEA also has bigger squares they sell individually aside from that set of 3.

Includes: 1 box (H2xW7xD5") and 2 boxes (H2xW5xD3½").
Nowhere near 610 cubic inches for the set.
