They have a tad bit smaller stems and have improved acoustics.

Splurge for the ANC version if you can afford it (or look into the pros which aren't too much more than the ANC version on sale rn). The silicone tips vs hard plastic is much easier for (for me at least). Makes a huge difference.

Glad they added a 'budget' model though. Wonder how these fit compared to the previous ones.

I think this is base version which doesn't have ANC or support MagSafe charge

Just keep in mind that the ANC will not be as effective as the pro which seals the ear. It will dampen some noises though so it's better than nothing. Personally I own the 3rd gen and AirPods pro. When I want ANC I use the pro but everything else I use the 3rd gen. I hate that suction feeling of the silicone tips. i find the non-pro's to be more comfortable.

Thanks for the suggestion, I just bought the anc version also $10 off. I never really liked any of my pros because of the fit. I was just waiting to upgrade my 3's and be free of the lightning cable. Hopefully the anc is not a mistake, I like the regular gen 3's

Look at you getting downvoted for an opinion no one wants to admit.

The noise cancellation provided on the Pros is nice but the suction is extremely uncomfortable for extended use.

By comparison i can wear my 3rd gen Airpods all day with no problem.

That being said I would still buy a pair of the Airpod Pro 2 for $190 then a pair of ANC for $179. Ten dollar difference for tons more features and better audio.

Figure once my 3rd gens go out the non-ANC will be headed towards $100 (Black Friday)

Prediction: the ANC model for $179 will not survive and they will go back to non-ANC and Pro

I've seen lots of YouTube reviews and the consensus is they are very comfortable. They stay well in some people's ears but not others. If you get the ones with ANC, the ANC is about 50% as effective as the Pros. Finally ,these do leak a lot of audio. If you listen to loud music, people within 6 feet of you will be able to hear some noise. Just something to be aware of if you plan on wearing these in a quiet space.

From youtube reviews I've watched the shape haschanged just slightly. MKBHD said that if you have had problem with apple earbuds in the past, you probably won't have the best fit. If you have had good fit in the past, these will also work. Seems like most say the fit has improved from 3rd gen which were too round.

I was able to run on the treadmill even with gen 1 and it did not fall out. If I shook my head a lot then it would.

I've been on Airpod Pro since though because I do like the rubber insert feel better.

Very slightly smaller than 3rd gen; somewhere between 2nd and 3rd according to some reviewers

Well SOL unfortunately . The general consensus from what I have gathered across the board has an opposite opinion. Personally I find them just fine. I wouldn't want it on for long as 2 hrs but THAT JUST ME.
