Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

I'm not a IT wiz. Does stock software allow blocking kids access to the internet easily?

Have Asus RT-AX86S now fairly happy with. Is this worth the upgrade?

Thank you

Set 2 of these up at my parents' house as a mesh system. Blazing fast! 3 weeks running and so far so good.

FWIW I don't see Woot! on the list of Linksys resellers or distributors so I'm doubtful the 1-year warranty will be honored. I've had bad experiences with woot warranties, they wouldn't even warranty my Amazonbasics cable (woot said go to amazon, amazon said go to woot, I said youre the same company...)
a slickdeals staff shouldnt even say this.

yes. they are the same company but their invoices and support are not. at least read what woot warranty on those amazon (woot) cables before buying. use those terms to fight with the right guy.

Bought one during last deal, it consumes 15 watts, my old linksys e1000 router was 6 watts only. Since I don't need mesh setup in apartment I decided to put back my old router.

are most people using this with stock software or flashing to OpenWRT? I just need one for a mid size apartment and not sure if I really should be that concerned with Linksys downhill reputation.

Did you just use the out of the box software or openWRT?

For reference I have 3 going in 4500 sq ft (includes finished basement). Incredibly pleased. Not much range outside the house. I just ordered two more. Stick on in the garage then need to plan for the other. Thinking near a rear window.
Better speeds on this than any router I've had.
Nodes are set up wirelessly and next to no speed loss according to the speedtest APP

my garage is detached and about 200 feet away from my house. I had to set up a node inside the garage and another node in a bedroom window closest to garage. Node in garage connects to node in bedroom Garage now has WiFi and I can now use MyQ app to monitor my garage door! I also have two other nodes in house including basement for a total of four nodes.

Sorry if it has been asked before, but can I use this router to extend my WiFi with an Xfinity gateway?

got two last time but couldn't figure out how to make one an extender and one a repeater so following

one will be wired into lan from wall (to ATT modem) and one will be wifi ideally repeating but allow me to enable Ethernet from it to make a lan connection for my security cameras (not installed near a wall Ethernet port)
