Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

Not out of the box, it doesn't have repeater/AP functionality built in that works with other models. If you have two LN1301 then the 2nd one can be an "extender" in the mesh network. So getting this to work with an Xfinity gateway likely involves installing OpenWRT which according to many people is quite the PITA.

It does work as an AP out of the box (bridge mode) and should not make a difference what brand you are attaching to. I have several in bridge mode connected to a pfSense router.

Could having too many meshes impact the connection negatively?
I currently have two eeros at opposite side of a 1000 sf house but have connection issues. Support told me I have too many for a small space and it is interfering with each other. Will having too many of these routers have the same issues?

Bought one and considering whether I should buy another for this price point

Wowdeez! It's back again and I'm back to pick the 4th one even though I absolutely and positively don't need more than 3. Power of SD. 😭

Fwiw, I flashed OpenWRT on the 3 I got and the mesh is working wonderfully well on @qosmio's NSS build. Couldn't be any more happier and I would say that this is the deal of this year if not for the decade!

2 GB RAM + 1 GB flash + tri-band + awesome openwrt and ddwrt support + Wi-Fi 6 + $15... No brainer!
I know it's not Apples to Apples, but can you share you're settings for mesh on OpenWRT? Which radio is doing the backhaul?

You can often get a Deco Wifi 6 system with years of firmware security updates for around $60 on sale. Here's one 3 unit system last month

Is Costco Deco WiFi 6 mesh system better than this one or not?

Woot has it again for $20. I have been running 24/7 for over two weeks with stock firmware - no issues.

This is what I posted on the last thread if anyone is willing to stay on stock but I love openwrt and have been using it for two weeks or so and absolutely love it 😃

Instructions for enabling MESH (thanks to @rbtcordell for the original source):

1-Setup your Main router completely.

2-Plug your child node using the wan port to the main router lan port, wait for a solid purple light on the child node before proceeding

3-Log into your main router web admin.

4-Click on CA at the bottom right.

5-Click on Connectivity and CA Router setup.

6-Click on both Add Wired and Add Wireless nodes buttons. Wait for the Add wireless button to re-enable.

7-Click Done adding Child Nodes and then Apply.

8-Now the child node light should start flashing purple and turn into a mesh mode when it turns blue.

9-Disconnect Ethernet and wait for blue light again.

10-Move node to desired location.
This is for 2 of these? What if I currently have a main tp link router as my main, is it possible to make these 2 work together with my main tp link and make them as repeater/extender?

Right now I currently have 1 main tp link router, and one of this as bridge mode with the same network and password. However my eufy security camera is having issue because it says my homebase 3 is not on the same network (both are on my same ssid wifi but one is connected via tp link WiFi and another through Linksys)
If anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated!

You would use an ethernet cable from the wall in one of your other rooms and configure this device to behave like an access point as mentioned earlier in the thread. Just pick the room that will give you the best coverage for the areas that need it.
I have set my Linksys as bridge mode with the same wifi SSID and password as my main tp link router. However some device is having trouble (ie. My eufy security camera and homebase) seeing each other as on the same network if they happen to connect to different devices via WiFi.
Any way to solve it? Thank you!

Btw, OpenWRT is as stable as it can get and am using qosmio's NSS build on 3 devices for more than a week now and it's rock solid, imo!

Bought the 4th one today and *pondering* whether to get the 5th one or not! woot
Do you have link to qosmio's NSS build? TIA.

Asking for opinions ... Currently using an Orbi RBK50 setup (wifi 5) ... Do you think it's worth upgrading at this price? Or just keep waiting. Setup seems adequate for the time being.
