Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

I already have one network with the Linksys mesh routers (using it for IoT stuff). My main network is an older Netgear Orbi that is now testing as slower than the Linksys. Tempted to buy another trio of the Linksys to set up another network to replace the Orbis.

Is it possible to have two Linksys networks (with different names) in the same household?

I never even tried the stock firmware, but yes I have wired backhaul working flawlessly on my LN1301s using OpenWRT.
Does wireless backhand work with openwrt?

I am considering this since I have the same Eero 6 Pro (3x hardwire mesh setup). I assume you converted these to DDWRT, how is the interface and are there options to group devices (into profiles) and ability to pause and resume (including remotely)? I have small kids and use Eero's controls with scheduling restrictions and blocking categories. Thanks in advance.
Still using on default fw...did not get a chance to try ddwrt or openwrt yet for last 3 weeks. Looking for inputs since the router has actually worked flawlessly for me with no hiccups for last 3 weeks.

Does anyone know if I can connect a Canon laser printer to the USB on this thing and share the printer to all the network computers and devices?

Not with stock FW. I can't speak for other FW since I have not tested it yet.

Not on stock firmware. But should work on both openwrt and ddwrt. They both have guides.

Yes I have 2 setup with T-Mobile 5G home internet. Works great.

5G gateway to Main Linksys then Mesh Linksys.
Awesome! Which 5G Gateway do you have? The black trashcan or the newer white box?

Canon laser without a network port? You sure?

Check that it doesn't have just a temporary plastic plug in it that can pull out. I know HP used to do this so you can use the USB cable to setup as WiFi when printer had no screen.

Stock firmware working fine for pretty much everyone it seems. Yes only basic mesh but surprisingly no headaches. I'm still going to try alternative FW but not on the 3 I have running my network...I somehow bought 3 more to play with once people make it easier. I used ddwrt, tomato etc decades ago was so so good

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

DD-WRT will have no app control, no remote admin, more limited parental controls, and will be harder to turn wifi on and off. You should watch some videos to get an idea of the UI. It's kind of like a Linksys circa 2004.

OpenWrt is sort of the same, with a more basic default feature set, but more available features that can be installed. Still no app or remote admin with limited parental control.

Some people use AdGuard home, on or off router, for parental controls.

All of this is way more complicated than eero and suitable only for more technical users. I personally would keep the Eero if it's working for you. I was considering it, but don't want to pay their monthly fee.

Haha, replace T-Mobile Asus? You are talking about what exactly I am going to do. The router has better good signal than my Aruba AP.
I also have the T-mobile router mod, is this one a lot better?

Currently have one and it's great. Any reason to get two for future potential mesh? I don't see myself buying a large place but $15 is cheap.
