Note that the previous thread on this has a massive amount of technical discussion about practically every aspect of this router and detailed setup instructions etc. If looking for answers, I'd start with a search in that thread (terms like OpenWRT, DD-WRT, stock, CA, mesh, USB, throughput, wired, backhaul, bricked, etc). That may be a good start for those new to it, as it probably already answers a lot of questions that are sure to crop up.

Also, here's a link to some of the basic support docs for it from the Linksys site …

I have three of these. I flashed one to DD-WRT but could never get it to connect to the internet. Now I am wondering, could I use the DD-WRT as a node from the main LN1301 (running stock), and that way have access to the USB port? If so, how would I add the DD-WRT router to the network as a node?
Disable DHCP on the nodes. Only have your main router be the DHCP. That should do it.

Nice! I steered away from OpenWRT for this router because it seemed like it was in alpha/beta. The process to install it now is super simple (just use the "Factory" download button for the initial install and the "SysUpgrade" download to install every subsequent firmware update . Everything seems to be working great. I have one router running OpenWRT and one running DD-WRT. I think both work well, but I think OpenWRT's updates are easier to access and the wireless channel sniffer is a great feature to see what wireless channels are free/congested in your area. I kind of want to change my DD-WRT router to OpenWRT. I'll have to figure out if that's challenging or not.
