It works well here in Southern California. It doesn't last as long as deet, but reapplying once a day is fine given that it doesn't have the negatives of deet, such as the horrible taste, the impact on animals and pets, and the unpleasant oily feeling.

I'm actually buying this for that very reason. I read online that one or two good sprays of cutter brand lemon eucalyptus spray before the deet will make it much more palatable. The acidity really tones down the harshness and creates a velvety deet.

I am also getting this item is restricted for my location on Amazon. Walmart has it for the same price and no restrictions on shipping so I ended up ordered it there.
