I remember reading that the r8 was going to have the ability to add on laser jammers. Anything ever come of that?

Good to know! I'm definitely in no rush, but it's getting to be time to upgrade from my Escort Passport. It was a great device of its time. The darn OLED display has been failing the last couple of years, and at max brightness, orange is the only color that's somewhat readable.

Best deal so far. The $470 deal that someone else had quoted is fake news. It was from some small-time website and all those orders got cancelled. Woot!meanwhile is an Amazon subsidiary.

Excuse my ignorance, but do these actually work? Would anyone say these are 90% reliable if police are using speed guns? Does it matter on which type they use? Which state your in if it works? Can you go "too fast" that these don't allow you to slow down before you're scanned by the police? I've always been interested but figured there's no way these would actually work. Thanks

They help if you're smart. If you're on a flat road, going 50 over the speed limit and the cop is using laser, you're cooked, mainly because once laser hits you, it's game over. If you're on a highway, going with the flow, 20 over, and a cop is using a radar gun, this will alert you with enough time to not get pulled over. Is it worth it, that depends on you. The cost of one ticket plus the 3 years of insurance hikes will be roughly double or triple the cost of this.
