I got mine in from the previous deal. It's a nice rod, and the reel is pretty spiffy. I haven't put line in it yet, but it feels smooth. A 6' medium rod used to be the standard, now we've moved up to 7' or so, but this is just about as good, and maybe better for shorter anglers and people fishing from the banks.

The elite rods have some graphite in them, so they should be better. At least my lite pro from 20 years ago is better than the same era regular one.

Looks like they added 2 pink pin stripes to the reel just to call it a women's reel. Weird way to lose half your clientele

They offer shorter size rods with some pink on the rod and reel and label it women's. Obviously unnecessary but it's a good deal.

This does not appear to have an on/off switch to enable anti-reverse. I always thought that was a standard feature of a spinning reel but was surprised not to find it on the last reel I bought. Not a deal breaker but how do you confirm if it has the switch or not. I mean I don't see one...

I find the "elite" rods are excellent. This rod at 40$ is almost half off. Not that I expect the reel to be great but imo this is a SD.

Seems to me that if selling it as a woman's rod makes it cheaper, I as a man should just buy the woman's rod.

Womans fishing rod? Can't use live bait because it won't touch worms? Tells you to come home after catching one fish? Asks if it's at the fishing hole the minute you leave the dock? Tell you it has to pee the minute you get to the fishing hole?

Can someone recommend a compact (ie foldable) fishing rod for backpacking? Something that can catch a trout or two? Can be for a male or female if it matters lol. .

I got a Plussino telescopic rod from AMZN a few years ago and it works well. When I travel it's always in my suitcase, just in case.

Yea I mean it's not like they sell different color and style things for women in other departments.. like clothes... housewares... etc...

Very astute.

Funny, I was just looking at at that on AMZ! I'm gonna take a look again. Thanks!

Anyone remember the Pocket Fisherman from the 70/80's? I had one as a kid and it came in handy many times.

I have a pen fishing pole (it looks just like a pen) with a very small spinning reel in my truck glovebox, but I've never actually used it. Not even sure where I got it from, but I really wouldn't call it a quality item.
