I prefer this 5200mah Anker Power Bank (https://www.anker.com/products/a1...2681512086 [anker.com])
Was $12 a handful of months ago on Amazon.
I have Ankers 20000mah Powerbank too, but its not an Everyday Carry, too bulky. This 5200mah goes with me on my Bike, in my Sketchbook bag etc, its EDC for sure.
Well shit, thanks for the heads up. (I got mine a few months ago). If it has the potential for lighting up, I'm not gonna risk it. Gotta give Anker credit though for a total recall, this is why I think sticking with the known brands is best, I doubt any other Chinese brand would bring such a thing to attention at all.You know whats shady af though. That Verge article is dated June 8th. My Purchase date from the Amazon is 4 days before. Meaning Amazon knew beforehand and put it on Sale to clear their inventory.
Anker is supposedly replacing it with an Anker 533, which kinda sucks for me, yes its twice the mAh, but also larger and twice the weight. My whole utility was for my Bicycle kit, it fits where it needs to, and I had a method for attaching it to my Handlebars in case I needed to Charge my Headlights while using them. None of that will work anymore :[---
UPDATE: Ignore my previous text, While typing this out, I was also filling out the Anker Recall form, and apparently, even though I fall within the Purchased Date Range (before June 6th 2024), my serial number is getting denied as its not in the "serial number range affected".... literally wasted an hour getting all the documentation together and all the photo proofs they required. They publically state its in the Recall Date range, but then push comes to shove, don't even let me submit the application. I've emailed them directly. Honestly, I was waxing praise about Anker 2 messages ago, but this is wack. If they state a Purchased Date recall range, they should stick with it. Lame. - but thanks for letting me know - I'm not keen on a product with even a remote change of exploding/catching fire
UPDATE2: Hello to the Anker Rep, whom I linked to this page in an email exhange.
EDIT:
i should note that Anker support is still very good. i emailed them, they asked a question about what troubleshooting steps i did. then after that, they immediately ordered replacements sent directly to me.
granted, the boxes that arrived says they're refurbished, but so far they're working fine.

When you make this many lithium batteries, there will be batch failures and recalls.
Ask my MacBook Pro. Fire hazard battery recall.
The companies that brush it under the rug are the problem.
I have a 5,000mAh phone and this charged it from empty(I drain every bit) to 66% so it should be about 66% efficient (Which is normal and its the upper efficiency % of batteries out there).
Got 2 to use back then when I got my Retroid Pocket 4 Pro.
