OK deal but ram is not upgradable on these and 16GB ram is only enough to run MSDOS 2.0. I tried running MSDOS 4.0 with multitasking but you run out of memory really fast.

my ms dos 3.5 works ok with chrome and about 30 tabs, so it really depends on multi tasking, but yes, I do prefer upgradeable RAM, but I guess u have to sacrifice that over speed (closer pathway to the CPU that allows higher timings)

Curious what is MSDOS used for nowadays?

My 4-yr-old 17" Idea Pad is still running hard, with a broken hinge. Otherwise I would get this new thinkPad, especially at this price. ThinkPad used to be one of the best but expensive laptops on the market.

Nice looking rig which I was interested in until I realized the soldered on RAM is it. No slots to upgrade. So if anything happens to that ram you're done. No thanks.

This has the 7840U CPU which is very nice... I just looked it up and it has similar performance as the Z1 Extreme (found in gaming consoles ROG Ally and Legion GO). Also its integrated GPU is the 780M... same as the Z1 Extreme. You could totally play some games on this Thinkpad.

I had no idea that the RAM isn't upgradable on a P-series Thinkpad.. makes no sense, some ppl need 64gb on a portable workstation. I've got 48gb in my T14, it was a $50 upgrade

This is a great deal. Yes the ram is not upgradable but an awesome quality machine for the price. We've deployed about 50 of these(in various configurations) in the past year and have had no issues. T series quality at L series price

Is the L series still better than typical consumer laptops? These different lines of Thinkpads confuse me. I'm looking into some refurb L series Thinkpad but I'm worried it won't be any better than their consumer line of laptops.

These laptops seem to solid feedback on Reddit. Guess great price for ThinkPad as they are business class laptops from Lenovo and we don't get to see much deals in this segment in general.

L-E-T/P-X is the hierarchy. L is the lowest. I wouldn't go lower than E and would shoot for T/P refurb.

Lenovo does sell a 64GB version for those people who "need" 64GB. For most people 16GB is fine.

Incorrect. E is SMB - this is better than consumer grade. L is the entry commercial, and pretty good quality. X is 13" thin and light. T and Ps are similar; but P16v, P16, and P1 (thin and light workstation) are much more powerful. X1 is the top of the line.
