Daniel Handler doesn't get enough credit for writing an entire series of books with unhappy plotlines straight through to unhappy endings and people STILL came back for more. It's an incredible literary feat.

It's fun to see this 13-book collection for $4 at the top of the list, with the 3-book ones for $27 and the 4-book finale for $35. You get the whole series in one for $4 or sections for $116.

Getting past the kindle drm is trivial with Calibre and some fairly easily findable plugins. The only trick is making sure you look at the notes and make sure you're using the up to date plugins. There's been a few over the years that got abandoned and then picked up by someone else under another name.

The current stuff will be linked in a mobilereads post that's fairly up to date.
