Have no way of testing their "measurements", but I swear to baby jesus that this paper is thinner than it was a few years ago

Nope. $38.99 around Cincinnati, at least. For generic paper. You can verify in your Costco app under the Warehouse tab they now let you check price and inventory from app at your warehouse.

Funny, but a strange viewpoint if you think that way.

The free paper days were an anomaly, even though they lasted for years. Their rebates were ended when Staples got taken over by a company that wanted to make more money instead of losing their asses. Paper was not free (nor cheap) back then for consumers who didn't work the Staples rebate system.

Post-Covid almost everything has gone up with the inflation we live with but that is not a "paper" issue per se. So I would not classify it as corporate greed, just profit-seeking.

Pre Cov, paper cost much less. $40 would've been on the high side but us now the sale price. It's a rip off but what can one do? Companies complain but want to maintain their high profit margins.

I don't know which deal it was. But I got like 6 boxes of paper for $2 in 2014 or something after all the rebates.

I had a 2 year old then.

Now I have 6 kids in all sorts of grades, and I still have 2 boxes of paper left.

Helped that there was a significant paradigm shift away from needing to print as much…

Anyway, I miss the old staples. 😅 But as you can see from my reminiscing, it wasn't paying them enough.

Good comparison. Free shipping and cashback bring it down slightly better than the clubs IMO but close enough it doesn't make a huge difference.
