people do not realize longevity of the 13/14 Gen Intel CPUs. Even with the recent BIOS update it may seem the cpu is working fine as of now, but it won't last long. Unless you upgrade your computer every 3-4 years, I would avoid this.

I'm boycotting AMD for making Intel do this with their competitiveness! If AMD didn't push them Intel wouldn't be in this situation. It's all AMD's fault! Wink

Remember when Intel was at the top of their game?

Me neither.

The recent deal from Lenovo was better. Came with a 4080 super and a 14th gen chip... This is mediocre at best.

Forgive a stupid Q:

Can someone please explain to how they make this happen with a 4080 card and the rest while a 4080 card by itself is $1000 for a cheap one, Ste the rest of components in bulk with profit margin under.$850?

Some possibilities I can think of: 1. Manufacturers buy wholesale ; 2. Keeping inventory costs more money for the retail stores; 3. 50XX cards are coming out soon, 4080 pre-build machines may depreciate more value than selling at discount now

Are there any articles I can read concerning the longevity of the 13th and 14th gen Intel CPUs? Also, any idea when Intel may release a 15th gen chip? Thanks.
Edit - I see where rumors are that the 15th gen chips will be released as early as this month.

CPU lifespan (or even motherboard) depends on several factors:
1.) Heat exposure (temp)
2.) Heat change (rapid heating and cooling is not efficient)
3.) voltage exposure (voltage causes electromigration)

It's inevitable that recent intel high-end CPU's which spike up to 450W usage will kill the CPU a lot faster vs AMD CPU's (e.g. where high-end 7800X3D peak at 82W). Even in a case where Intel CPU causes momentary spike up to 450W for about cumulative 2-3 minutes a day will kill the CPU much faster than CPU running at 82W for 24 hours. More power ? more temp and pressure on the CPU. Intel literally uses 5x-6x more power to pull the same processing speed that AMD performs. They needed to stay competitive on the market, so that's why they released such inferior product because people generally only care about speed. There are several articles comparing peak power for various market CPU's. I'll link one here FYI.

Again, buy at your own risk. This deal has 4080, which probably means you will be playing games at 4K or 1440p ultra settings. This machine won't last long if you play games in that setting. There are so many discounts on Intel CPU comps out there but almost none on the AMD's. Also, there is a reason why it's so hard to get ryzen 7800X3D nowadays and price has gone up hill

I got this machine for $2K a few months ago and have had a great time with it so far. Able to run black myth wukong at nearly max settings in 4K at 100+ FPS (I really couldn't tell the difference for the slightly higher graphics settings)
