I was just looking at this generator the other day (among many others) and had come across a comparison that may be helpful: https://generatorbible.com/compar...9372,28995 I am no expert on generators, so continue doing your own due diligence.

Found a decent thread discussing usage of this generator: https://www.reddit.com/r/Generato...?rdt=51688

Also found a link from a previous generator slickdeal regarding best fuel for a generator: https://www.generatorjoe.net/html/genfuel.html

I bought this model a few weeks ago and just broke it in ahead of the next Houston power outage. With an Airgo soft start on our 3 ton central A/C and electrical panel generator inlet with interlock, this will run everything in our home on natural gas. Before testing the central A/C, every light inside and out, every ceiling fan (6 in total), and every appliance was turned on and it handled the entire load with room to spare. I then turned off appliances but left all lights and fans running and the A/C kicked in just fine, then added the microwave - no issues. Really impressed with this model, and this is an outstanding price for a tri fuel inverter.

Thanks for posting. This looks like a solid deal. I was close to pulling the trigger on this Pulsar unit link below. Model No GD10KBN for $1,100. It's only dual fuel (I'm on LP) but is higher rated wattage and rated at a lower db… but not sure if that is apples to apples. It's a newer unit with no reviews out there. Any experience with Pulsar or this model? I think Champion has a better rep so may be worth spending essentially the same and getting less power…?

I'm kinda kicking myself for running a 30amp interlock kit instead of a 50amp when we built our house. Recently bought the Wen DF875ix because only needed the L14-30R.

Just grabbed it for my place in South Louisiana. Thanks. Going to replace my 3500W generator so I can actually run my heat pump during an outage

Looking through the pictures it shows the 50amp plug being rated for 30.2 amps. Is that correct?

I purchased this also Sept 25th to run on NG and also in Houston. Have a Micro air easy start on my 4ton A/C unit. I could not get the ac to start on eco mode. Once I turned off eco mode this generator started my AC unit. A little disappointed I have to keep eco mode off because the generator is loud. But pleased it runs the things needed during an outage.

It's rated for 50 amps, but the generator can only output 30.2 amps. current = power / voltage. 7250W / 240V = 30.2 A

Probably. My Wen version of this only has a 30 amp plug. If you need something that can actually do closer to 50 amps, the Westinghouse WGen11500TFc has been popping in and out of stock this morning on Home Depot's website. It isn't a true inverter but is less than 5% THD and also has remote start. Good luck!

The 14-50 plug is rated for 50 amps, but the actual max running output of the this generator on gasoline is 30.2 amps @ 240V. Rating and actual output are two different things.

The reason why it has a 14-50 plug is to support plugging into a 50 amp generator inlet, which is convenient if that is what you already have installed.

If you need to install a generator inlet it is better IMHO to go w/ a 50 amp inlet rather than a 30 amp inlet for future proofing. That way you can support a bigger generator in the future even if your current generator can't output the full 50 amps that the connection can support.

Add up your wattage... all of that info is on the products.... you don't want to max a generator out on wattage.

That size house you may have a 2.5 or 3T heat pump? You'd probably be ok, but you will definitely need a soft start kit on your compressor.
