Awesome book and series, but do yourself a favor and read the first law trilogy (not on sale currently) before the age of madness trilogy, many of the storylines will make way more sense if you do this.

Great book an the entire series is a fantastic read. I agree that starting with the First Law trilogy is the right play.

Excellent series! Like others have said, the first trilogy (First Law) and the three standalones (Best Served Cold, The Heroes, and Red Country) should be read before starting the second trilogy (Age of Madness [which this book is a part of]). Disclaimer: The series is hyper violent.

I agree with the other posters. This book series is fantastic. This is the first book in his second trilogy, so you may want to check out the recommended reading order here. I don't know if it is required, but it certainly fills in the backstory on many of the characters in the series.

Really enjoyed this one on audible and highly recommend especially if you're into medieval fantasy with court intrigue and some fantastic characters that fell outside the usual tropes

Probably my favorite trilogy of all time. (Age of Madness) First Law is good and probably needs to be read to fully enjoy this series but starting with this isn't a horrible idea.

Maybe a controversial opinion, but this series is fantastic. Worth the the price of admission.

*warning* Upon reading this, you may end up purchasing his entire catalogue of epic books and bring great literature into your life. Proceed with caution.

pretty good series, pretty good book. It's gritty semi fantasy with brutality that rivals game of thrones. good deal for 3$ but you should probably read the first trilogy. I don't think of the stand alones as required reading but you'll probably want to hit those too before this one. I can't comment if this trilogy is good as a standalone but i suspect it's passable but really much better if you read the others first.
