I called QVC to ask if they'd refund the difference since this promo is better by $35, and the nice lady did. So if any of you ordered with the previous deal, call in for the difference.

1. Container size & shape: This one uses a tall, skinny container. This is better for single smoothies and smaller batches. The short wide ones don't do as good of a job for single smoothies or smaller batches of anything. If you are usually making double or triple smoothies, the tall skinny container will blend the same as as the short wide one in the newer models - the difference here comes down to smaller batches. Pulsing/chopping like cole slaw salads, etc are better with the short wide containers, and soups get hotter more quickly. Scooping things out is also easier. The downside of the tall skinny container is that it will not fit under cabinets with the container on top. Yes, you can get one of the newer ones with the shorter container that fits under a cabinet, and then also purchase a smaller container (i.e. the 20 oz personal cup of the 48 oz stainless), but those containers are $100-$200 each. So now you have a $400 blender if you find it on sale (i.e. the A3500) with the shorter wide container, and then another $100-$200 on top of that for another container, so you are at $500 to $600 plus now need to store an extra container somewhere, versus $250 for this entire unit. The 5200/Creations II is the 'OG' Vitamix unit.
2. Controls & attachments: This one does not have pulse, but you can pulse by switching it off and on. It does not have the presets (i.e. smoothie, soup, etc), so you need to do it yourself. Also, the newest ones have self-detect, so if the container is knocked off then the base stops spinning, and also works with more modern attachments like a food processor attachments they have. You can buy a dedicated food processor for $100, but then you have a blender and a food processor on your counter. S
There is a really good review here comparing the 5200 to the A3500 here -

"Label may reflect the following C-Series machines: 5200, Creations® II, and Creations® GC"

So their reconditioned 5200 might be a Creations II, hence them being the same products from the onset.

If you buy this, call Vitamix a little while before your warranty is up. They are fantastic and will walk you through the entire machine to make sure everything is operating properly. They sent us some replacement parts for free at the end of our warranty.
We looked at replacing our Vitamix when we had to replace the container. This is a good deal. My only hang up is that 99% of what we do with the machine is make smoothies. That smoothie setting is convenient. We hit one button and walk away. The same for cleaning. As well built as these are, we are likely to get ours repaired when it breaks. It's awesome to buy a premium product that lives up to all claims and expectations.
