FYI I am the one who posted (and purchased) the previous deal for the same blender when it was a $15 off promo code a couple of weeks ago, making it $285. The blender was shipped directly from Vitamix Corp and arrived 11 days after I had ordered it, although I had ordered it on a Saturday so 2 non-business days.

I called QVC to ask if they'd refund the difference since this promo is better by $35, and the nice lady did. So if any of you ordered with the previous deal, call in for the difference.
FYI this is the only Vitamix series that doesn't fit under standard cabinets. Also does not have SELF DETECT technology and only has a 5-yr warranty (versus models with 10-yr). Still a good price if it fits your specs and kitchen!

I've had the 5200 for a very long time (supposedly this is the same model....looks identical.) The motor is pretty much indestructible. I mainly use it to make peanut butter using only peanuts and no oil. I initially thought I killed it because it smelled like I burnt up the motor, but it was just the overheating protection kicking in. Once it cools down, it works again. It overheats toward the end of the second batch every time and has survived every time. I've been overheating it every few weeks for something like 7-10 years and it still performs as it did when new. After the first few times, it did not smell anymore when overheated. It has not overheated or come close to overheating with anything other than the peanut butter. I'm sure making peanut butter like this would kill most blenders, but I never see them tested in that way. The container is a bit of a PITA to clean because the bottom is narrow and the sides are shaped weird to get the vortex going. Running the blender with soapy water in it will clean the bottom half of the container pretty well. Yes, it is too tall to fit under the cabinets, but the shorter containers do not work as well as the tall V shaped one. I like that it has an analog adjustment so for thick liquids you can dial in the exact amount of power to keep the vortex going. It is very much a buy once cry once type of purchase.

Is this basically just a rebranded 5200 or is there some difference in the features/options/performance? I bought my first vitamix a few months back when the v1200 refurbished deal showed up for 200$. I still somewhat regret not going for a 5200 refurbished for about 100$ more. I hear the container this container and the one with the 5200 are actually better for blending smaller batches, and maybe just in general its the ideal shape/size.

For those that are unsure of this model vs the newer models, the biggest differences are:

1. Container size & shape: This one uses a tall, skinny container. This is better for single smoothies and smaller batches. The short wide ones don't do as good of a job for single smoothies or smaller batches of anything. If you are usually making double or triple smoothies, the tall skinny container will blend the same as as the short wide one in the newer models - the difference here comes down to smaller batches. Pulsing/chopping like cole slaw salads, etc are better with the short wide containers, and soups get hotter more quickly. Scooping things out is also easier. The downside of the tall skinny container is that it will not fit under cabinets with the container on top. Yes, you can get one of the newer ones with the shorter container that fits under a cabinet, and then also purchase a smaller container (i.e. the 20 oz personal cup of the 48 oz stainless), but those containers are $100-$200 each. So now you have a $400 blender if you find it on sale (i.e. the A3500) with the shorter wide container, and then another $100-$200 on top of that for another container, so you are at $500 to $600 plus now need to store an extra container somewhere, versus $250 for this entire unit. The 5200/Creations II is the 'OG' Vitamix unit.

2. Controls & attachments: This one does not have pulse, but you can pulse by switching it off and on. It does not have the presets (i.e. smoothie, soup, etc), so you need to do it yourself. Also, the newest ones have self-detect, so if the container is knocked off then the base stops spinning, and also works with more modern attachments like a food processor attachments they have. You can buy a dedicated food processor for $100, but then you have a blender and a food processor on your counter. S

There is a really good review here comparing the 5200 to the A3500 here -

From my research, it is the same as the 5200, except 5 year warranty vs 7 year warranty and aesthetic difference. To further 'prove' it is the same as the 5200, if you order a reconditioned 5200 from Vitamix, here is what you get per Vitamix's link below:

"Label may reflect the following C-Series machines: 5200, Creations® II, and Creations® GC"
https://www.vitamix.com/us/en_us/...d-standard

So their reconditioned 5200 might be a Creations II, hence them being the same products from the onset.

I've had the 5200 (same as this) for years and love it. Great blender and this is a good price.

I heard tall container works better when you need smaller portions.

I'm definitely looking to have a Vitamix but there seem to be a lot of different models. I don't need anything fancy. My Ninja sucks and needs to go
Their legacy series are plain and simple, and tall container works better with smaller portions

I assume this isn't a part of their legacy series?

How does this compare against Costco Vitamix Venturist Pro ($299 after 100 off)

Ordered the QVC model. From what I've read, the 5200/tall container make far better smoothies than the short/fat one.

We have had the 6300 for 12 years or so. I think it is the same except for the controls. Ours can do one click smoothies and the like. It also has a pulse. Otherwise I think they are the same. It has performed great, getting used about once a day for smoothies. After about eleven years the bearings in the pitcher seized up. Vitamix no longer sells parts for the pitcher, so we had to replace the pitcher which is expensive. New ones are $170 on Amazon. We bought a used, good condition one for half that. It appeared brand new. That purchase was well worth it. Our Vitamix works like new. We wanted to stay with the older, narrower containers for the reasons stated by others.
If you buy this, call Vitamix a little while before your warranty is up. They are fantastic and will walk you through the entire machine to make sure everything is operating properly. They sent us some replacement parts for free at the end of our warranty.
We looked at replacing our Vitamix when we had to replace the container. This is a good deal. My only hang up is that 99% of what we do with the machine is make smoothies. That smoothie setting is convenient. We hit one button and walk away. The same for cleaning. As well built as these are, we are likely to get ours repaired when it breaks. It's awesome to buy a premium product that lives up to all claims and expectations.

What's a self detect?

It will self-detect if the container is on and turn off the machine if it is not. It will also self-detect if a different type of container attachment is on and utilize it efficiently. For example, they make a food processor attachment that only works with the self-detect blenders.
