$3-4 at Marshall's/TJ Maxx
I went to our local TJ Maxx today looking for one per your suggestion, and there were none in stock.
By the time I spend gas and hours driving round to the next closest store (all 30 minutes away, in different directions), it will have cost me more than $6. And the one I ordered will be here tomorrow.

I'd buy a metal version, but I've gotta pass on the PFAS.

Did spatulas and cooking spoons become obsolete all of sudden? Those work perfectly fine.

As the cook of the house...I kinda hate it. If you use it too early, it gets cross contaminated.

Cross contamination is only an issue if you want to use the masher on something else after mashing your meat.

We get vacuum packed hamburger and I find it much quicker than it is to break up the hamburger using the spatula. Also if you mash it enough you don't need to flip anything, just stir it around and it's fine.

But I use it once then a quck rinse off in the sink and into the dishwasher.

So the question after reading your post:

What the heck else are you using this on that you eat with ground beef that cross contamination is a major issue?

The only thing I could think of is shephards pie but I normally make that with left over mashed potatoes and I have potatoe mashers that do a much much better job.

Any other ideas how I can make much ado about this cross contamination nothing????

Thanks!!!

In for 1. Hopefully, it won't scratch non-stick cookware.

Who mashes meat? Is that even a thing?
It's a more convenient way to break up ground meat when you're making stuff like chili, bolognese, soup, etc. It's more effective than a wooden spoon or spatula but it's up to you if you think that it's worth getting a specific tool for that purpose. If you're fine with the above mentioned tools, don't get it. I haven't gotten one but fwiw, I know a lot of people who are glad they have theirs.
