There's a trend in road bikes toward larger/wider tires, because you can run them at lower pressures and get similar rolling resistance to smaller/skinnier tires at higher pressures. The lower pressure is desirable to minimize the impact of bumpy or rough surfaces on your body, which can noticeably reduce fatigue and improve endurance. Ultimately a larger/wider tire can smooth out the ride and make you comfortable riding for longer distances. As a note, there are practical limits to the benefits, however, as you also have to consider additional weight and aero resistance as you go larger.

The biggest tire you can put on this bike is 28mm wide. That's not terrible by any means, but closer to what you'd find on most road bikes 5+ years ago. Based on competitor offerings lately, I'd expect at least up to 32mm support.

I do some light gravel riding on my road bike from time to time, and the roads get rough in certain areas too. I currently like 28mm in the front and 30mm in the back but also want more freedom to explore in the future. Old timers might remind me: this is a race bike, not an endurance or all-road bike. But even a Tarmac SL8 has 32mm tire clearance these days

2017 sale was to the Rossignol ski company. 2021 was to the conglomerate behind KTM motorcycles. They were sold again less than a year ago and are now independent. We'll see what the future holds.

You are not the target market for this bike. Why are you here?

As a fellow cyclist whose always looking for good deals to recommend to my friends who are getting into cycling or thinking of it, this is a pretty solid deal for sure. I remember under a year ago recommending a deal similar to this one on a Canyon Aeroad with pretty much the same components at around $5000 and that was a good deal back then. Haven't been looking at the bike market for the past few months so not sure if prices have dropped since, but despite that I would imagine this would even be a good deal at $4500 due to the Shimano Ultegra Di2 components, esp being the 12 speed version (even the 11speed would be decent).
Probably a good all around bike, maybe doesn't have the looks of say an aero bike which new cyclists seem to be drawn to but they often forget about the weight penalty that comes with aero frames of around 1-2lbs heavier usually.
The carbon Reynolds wheels that come on this bike are also pretty decent as a lot of built bikes often come with aluminum alloy to lower the cost, and is often a $1K upgrade to carbon. The carbon handlebars is a bonus too as thats often a major 2nd upgrade to a bike after the wheels. You can expect a decent set of carbon handlebars to set you back $200-$500 depending on where you get them from.
If I didn't have a bike already I'd actually highly consider buying this one. I'm guessing this is the climbing version of their frames hence the lighter weight.

Darn. I was pretty much set on getting this pinarello F5 https://www.excelsports.com/pinar...sku=014228
I can get carbon wheels for additional 700. Now I am not sure what to do. The Felt has better components all around for less. But, boy, it is ugly looking! It looks like a bike you buy at a department store. I like how the F5 looks much better. Any thoughts? I don't race, BTW. Well, other than racing my friends on Saturday morning rides...I am a casual weekend rider. Currently using an older trek madone 5.2 with ultegra components

I'm 5'9" with 32' inseam, any recommendation on the size?

Is this a good bike for leisure riding?
Not really. This is a mid-range race bike. Can you use it for leasure riding? Sure but you'd likely be a bit uncomfortable because of the aggressive cockpit position.

Probably 54 or 56. Felt has probably a fitting chart. You should look it up

I'm 5'10" with the same inseam and 54cm fits nicely. I picked one of these up a few months ago.

The F5 is a downgrade in basically every way except looks (edit: I guess it can clear slightly larger 30mm tires) - so it depends on what's important to you and if you plan to upgrade components. I was looking at the same comparison and just couldn't justify paying for the same for a heavier and lower-spec'd bike.

I'm 5'9" with a 30 inseam and I ride an FR1 in a 54 that fits perfectly. I'd go 55 if possible. I hate the way the newer models don't allow for adjustments by stem length...😒 but this one does

Should be labeled as having ultegra 8170 groupset not 8150, which denotes rim brakes. Decent deal if you don't mind the teal frame color.
