It's not really the water itself expiring, but It's the plastic chemicals in the bottle seeping into the water that is usually the problem. That's probably what you tasted.
There are different forms of silica dumbass. The Silica found in mineral water doesn't have the same chemical composition of industrial silica nanoparticles in that article.

I like fancy waters. Evian, Fiji, Alkaline water, etc. But I also enjoy cold tap water from the fridge in a Brita water pitcher.
