It feels like Lego hired an 81-year old parishioner to design this build.

Don't understand who would be buying these -- tons of Costco will have stock, think it would go down to Costco clearance @ $20.
Maybe for people for gold parts

As a non-Costco member could you explain said Costco clearance? Maybe I should get a membership…

The timing is different for every store so its hard to say exactly when it goes down. You need to have experience with each store and get a feel on when things are marked down.

The pricing gives you a hint -- if it ends in .99 its usually the normal price.
If it ends in .97 its usually some sort of national/regional price mark down. https://costco97.com/, though not all stores follow this
The star next to price means its not getting restocked.
If the item really gots to go, theres a manager / store markdown that ends in .00 -- thats usually when you get the best deals.

Usually Legos start to go at 50% of Lego MSRP, but Its not unusual to see prices drop more than 70% off Lego's MSRP for items they just need to move.
