Yeah, try and find one of these "influencers" (aka shills) who still use this. They demo and sell all this stuff off. And like you said DJI is crickets.

In fact, true with almost all stuff on YT. The only thing I see others and still use myself are Peter McKinnon filters.

I have 2 of these cameras: One with the non-screen battery combo and the other with the screen combo. DJI released a firmware update and a case to allow you to run the camera with a higher temperature threshold to avoid overheating (the firmware won't let you set the higher temp threshold unless the case is detected as installed). There was a period of time where DJI included this case for free with purchase directly from their site, but now you can pick it up for about $10. The case only needs to be installed on the camera module. I run the battery combo (called "power" combo) with no case on the battery, and the screen combo with the case on both the screen and camera modules.

My typical use is shoulder mounted when I'm doing photography/videography. Open air, but little to no airflow unless I am walking. Also when I do BTS for my shoots, it sits still on a tripod without moving. I can say that I've run it through 100+ degree Texas summers and I have not yet had it overheat configured as described above with the case + high temp setting. It gets uncomfortably hot though on the battery module. Like only can touch it for 5-10 seconds before I have to recoil hot. It doesn't come in contact with my skin mounted on my shoulder. I touch it swapping in and out the battery/screen module because I run it on my shoulder with the camera-only configuration. Then, I'll connect the battery/screen module to export the videos to the SD and to recharge the camera module. If I have a long day of shooting like a wedding, I'll have a power bank on me so I can charge the battery/screen module while recording on the camera module. Then I swap them out as needed for exporting and charging the screen module.

I have to play musical battery charging because the battery life is not the best, especially recording with the camera module only. Typically I get about 30 minutes of recording with my settings as 4k/30 with horizon balance on with the camera module only. I bought another screen combo mostly because I wanted a second charging unit for my typical setup. I can charge a module via power bank/wall outlet while also using the other module to connect to the camera module to charge it.

One thing I'll mention is that it is difficult to find accessories since DJI has released 2 newer versions of action cams since the Action 2 was released. Ulanzi released a really cool cage that can convert between the camera module only and any of the other combos, and it adds a USB-C port to the camera-only setup, but I haven't been able to find it in stock anywhere. I even tried buying it from a not-so-legit site that said it was in stock, but I ended up with a refund because it was in fact not in stock. The seller removed it from their site after my refund case closed with them.

I really like it because of how small it can get with the camera-only setup. A lot of people don't even realize I have it on and recording because of how low profile it is.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it to new action cam buyers mostly because accessories can be hard to find. You would be better served with the latest action cam from DJI or GoPro. If you do get this deal, it does NOT come with the case, so I would 100% recommend you buy the case to avoid overheating issues.

It's a much smaller and more portable/modular action camera.

It was aiming to be a cross between the old GoPro hero mini's , the insta 360 go and insta 360 One R or whatever the modular insta 360's were called at launch, without the option for a 360 module.

Important to remember that the insta 360 was KILLING IT at the time of and the year before this thing launched. There were tons of ppl begging GoPro to launch the hero mini again.

Depending on your use case, this is a very capable and high quality, small camera.

There's overheating issues when using stationary. When this came out I had gotten a hero 9 & 10 and both of those overheated INSANELY hot & shut themselves off, and iirc this little thing was performing just as good as those.

If you're interested in something small and a little more performant and flexible than the now much improved insta 360 go's now does 4K but has no ability to swap batteries or take an sd card, storage is fixed etc but there is no quality camera that's smaller and more versatile. This action 2 is the next step up in quality and size. And from there there's a big jump to the GoPro mini's.

Overheating: if you want to use this action cam as a vlogging cam while stationary and shooting longer periods etc…you may find the overheating unbeatable. But if you plan to use it while mostly walking or doing any sort of ACTION where there's some airflow passing over the device, I find it to perform just fine, this is mostly an issue when recording at the highest resolutions, framerates, and bitrate.

Last little overheating nugget, I use my action cams on my motorcycle helmet, so they get airflow. But if your use case will allow you to have a small usb c battery bank onboard, you can power whatever action cam you choose from the battery bank, I am forced to do think with my hero 10 in the sweltering heat-death months of "summer" which is April to early October on the gulf coast, anyway so by having a small battery pack in my pocket or mounted to my helmet etc & connected via usb c, I can record without a battery inside the camera, and that has a HIGE impact & entirely eliminates overheating because that battery heating up inside the cam w/nowhere to dissipate is often usually the largest source of heat.

For all of these devices they will get very hot if you're sitting still recording at high resolution/frame-rate etc for more than 10-20 minutes in warm temps.

TLDR: if you want something as close to the size as the Go3 as possible but that also has some modularity and swappable batteries and sd cards but supports much higher quality footage and even HDR iirc, try one of these out and just put it through its paces in the return policy.

I really like these and appreciate modular device attempts because consumers always say we want them and seem to never support them, although I the reasons why, but this category is all about compromise

Watch some BUYER reviews, and if interested try it.

yyou find with the heatsink case it and the firmware updates that helped temps you can record on the highest settings (res, fps, and bitrate, hdr) in Summer heat while recording for extended periods non stop without issue? While on foot and stationary or walking slowly, without issue? that's even better improvements than I realized if so.

It's a real shame these caught such flack early on, especially since the GoPro's were overheating just as bad or worse at the same time and didn't offer any of the form factor benefits.

I would have loved to see this iterated and offered as an optional variant of each action version. Hopefully like the hero mini dji will revive it occasionally.

I LOVE the Go 3s or 4 or whatever were at now, that thing is a powerhouse for its size. I just wish I could put a freaking 2TB card in it instead of having to offload.

Just to clarify in case your question is way more literal than I first interpreted it to be, yes it's a small action cam that can be worn on the body as you describe. You should look up some videos just to see the various mounting options. It can also mount just like the action you're used to.

DISCLAIMER: it is NOT a police style "body cam" though or remotely as rugged as any of those similar "body cam's which all mostly have a very rubberized hosing and all.

So small and light enough to attach to clothing yes, but don't expect to be banging it around like a actual body cam without issue

I can say that in my use case (4k/30, no HDR, Horizon Balance on, screen off when recording set to 1 minute) with it on my shoulder and/or stationary on a tripod, it does not overheat with the DJI case + high heat setting. When doing the camera only configuration, I get 27:43 minutes of record time that stops because the internal storage gets full. In the camera + module configuration, it keeps recording until the battery exhausts. I haven't timed the continuous camera + module run time, so I can't give you an estimate. I have a 128 GB microSD card installed, and it fills up to half to 2/3rds full when the battery goes dead.

It gets super hot though as mentioned. I can only touch the battery module without the case for 5-10 seconds before it is unbearably hot. The DJI case does let me touch the edges and sides of the camera and screen modules where the case is no problem for as long as I need to.

This heat of course is terrible for battery longevity. I plan to keep using this setup until I can't find the battery and/or screen module anymore for purchase.

Edit: yes DJI got a lot of bad press from overheating when it first was released. It caused them to include a case for free and firmware for the high heat setting. It works really well now as I mentioned. I love the modular form factor and how small it gets with just the camera. And I like the functionality of the modules so that the battery in the module charges the battery in the camera. There is also the one-touch setting to export the videos from the camera module to the microSD card in the battery/screen module that frees up the space in the camera module. It lets me charge the camera module and free up space at the same time, letting me quickly get back to shooting.
