Is this better than the Asus Vivobook 14 deal for the same price at Microcenter?

Thanks, OP was able to pick one up. Target has some great deals on laptops, If you can find them. Just an FYI, they have a Lenovo, i7, 12 gigs of RAM and 512 solid state hard drive. The tag said 149 99. They didn't have it when I picked this up, otherwise, I would have got the Lenovo. Anybody have any comments on installing regular Windows 11 on this? I'm not familiar with the S version? Thanks, in advance..
You don't have to install regular windows over it, the S version is just a "locked down" version that can only install apps from the Microsoft App store, however you can unlock it by downloading an app via the msft app store (https://support.microsoft.com/en-...1bfb28a307)

The only catch is that once you disable it, you can't re-enable it again

Just curious. Does anybody know how this processor compares to some earlier generation of Intel or Ryzen, so I can get a grasp of what it is? Not buying, just curious.
This appears to be the Effieciency cores lopped off from the higher end Intel lineups. 8 core 8 thread. Low wattage. 10,000 Passmark score. Single core score performance is probably its biggest downgrade but for the price it's hard to beat.

Can't compare a 150$ laptop to a 500$ laptop considering it's an Acer spire and it's probably gonna only last 2 years at the most before the screen hinge breaks off
This i7 with 16GB is also $150 with target circle, read the fine print on the listing.

Okay so on intels last couple of generation of processors they started doing this performance core and efficiency core thing. And the more high end processors often had a lot of extra efficiency cores, meaning smaller processors that consume a lot less power but still have a decent amount of performance.

So this appears to be an 8 core part of their efficiency core lineup, the more energy efficient, not the power consuming much more powerful processors. Because there's no hyper threading. Theres only 8 cores and 8 threads.

Sorry to sound all technical but that's how Intel is doing things these days. On the bright side if this is their bottom of the barrel processor this is a pretty nice upgrade over previous generation entry level processors they used to make.

Thank you for your effort; you could have said it in Greek, and I'd know no more, but, no matter, as I well understand the last sentence.
