My toddlers were playing with this book this weekend at Target. Pages are normal paper and not board-book. We ended up getting a different book that has sounds but board book pages instead. The sounds on this one are pretty fun though (and this is a good price).

My son had a lot of fun exploring and okaying with the animal sounds. I'm sure it helped him learn the names and sounds of the animals. Pages did get torn easy as others have mentioned but he wasn't interested in the story to be honest.
