I got this deal like 20 bucks cheaper a few weeks back and upgraded my wife's computer from 2700 to the 5700x3d running GTX 1080. It was a well worth upgrade for her playing games.

This rule doesn't apply to 7000 series and newer. For example, they all have integrated graphics now except the F models, such as the 7500F.

Quick question. Does this CPU has an integrated GPU or it needs a dedicated one?

It does not have integrated graphics so you'll need a GPU.

Damn, that's a great deal. I just paid $135 for the 5700x3d on Ali and $63 32GB of slightly faster G.Skill Ripjaws 3600MHz CL16 ram

- I'd only recommend this cpu if you already have an AM4 setup and just want to max it out. Literally no upgrade path. AM5 7500F ("lower" end AM5 cpu) is only a 6c/12t cpu, but is at least as powerful as this 8c/16t cpu, and most of the time it is faster.

- 5700x3D is either the top #2 or #3 AM4 processors... Depending on who you ask and what you're going to do with it. 5600x3D can be better at certain things, but rare. I'd stick with the 5700x3D all day.

- 5700x3D is #1 for price to performance... For AM4... Especially on AliExpress. ($135 right now for a new tray cpu.)

5800x3D is like $450 new ($350 used on ebay) for less than 10% performance increase.

I was considering buying a 5700x3d for awhile now but several things have put me off now:
  • RTX 5000 series will have cards utilizing PCIe 5.0 (which I'll be upgrading to)
  • 9800x3d in a few months which will support PCIe 5.0

Does anything utilize that? And at what cost?

The current gen AMD Zen 5 uses PCIe 5.0. The next gen Nvidia GPUs will use it.
If the RTX 4090 (which is meant for PCIe 4.0) is used in a PCIe 3.0 slot is any indication, there's a few percent of performance lost.

you should never consider an AM4 CPU for a new build. 5700x3D is for people who just want to upgrade their AM4 system on a budget.
