That's actually a really really useful feature from sapphire. It makes so much more sense.

That said, I'm HodL until 8800xt. It changes everything.

Retailers are choking on these 7800xt and 7900xt, let them die that hill.

Initially you were correct, but AMD/partners dropped prices on the 7900xt fairly quickly after initial release. $/FPS is pretty competitive at 4K as shown below. Current available prices, some cards are mostly unavailable so $/FPS is lower than a sale price.

Its a nice gard and good deal but there is serious overstock issue on these so i would wait and suspect these may fall into the 500 - 550 territory

This is a 7800XT actually FYI. AMD changed the name scheme so they can sell the 7900XTX for almost 900 bucks.

Going into the 7000 series, AMD changed their pricing scheme to match Nvidia's lineup and its prices. Without considering the price per frames too much it seems to me like AMD divvied up the 7000s into more like standard, XTs, GREs in various tiers.

I have the 6900xt that I got last year for 600. In terms of performance increase into the next generation a 7900xt should equal that of 6900xt. But it's the 900 dollar 7900XTX that's somewhat on par with it. 7800xt is said to be below a 6900xt.

It's all FYI I know. But looks like AMD gone and did a weird price change to compete with Nvidia's prices.

Buy with code AFFIRM10 and receive 10%. checking out with Affirm payment costs around $10 in interest net. so not exactly 10% but still discounts ~$50 in total, so it's a win!

Huge upgrade especially if you want 1440p. The 3600x will bottleneck you. 5700x3ds tho are super cheap and can get them off aliexpress
