However, I felt like this book was overhyped. If you want to save some money and this has been on your list - go for it. But, if your time is limited like mine (work, kids, etc), I'd read the greats (Foundation, Hyperion, Dune, etc) before spending time on this series.

All of these are much, much better: Dune (first 4), Expanse series, Empire of Silence (sun eater series), Red Rising series, anything by Michael Crichton. Some of those trend more towards a mix of fantasy/sci-fi
