Backlit, fingerprint, can't tell. Still, not bad for the $. Repped. Looking at Best Buy et.al., sans those features apparently.

Have there been 13th and 14th gen with similar specs within $50 of this price point?

I need a Windows laptop for college, primarily used for school work, web browse and Microsoft Office. My main want is long battery life and a good screen to look at. USB power would be nice but not necessary. Can I find such a laptop for less than $600. Can someone recommend a model or product line that I should keep an eye out for here on Slickdeals. Thank you.

It's 16GB of RAM (8 soldered 8 in a SO-DIMM). I actually got this; seems a great deal.

Now and then you might find a LG gram at that price range, it would be perfect for your needs.

Is 16 inch laptop too big to travel with?

Thank you Leo. I will check into this model in the 16GB version. I'm currently running out of memory when I have several web pages and spreadsheets open with my current Win 11 8GB laptop. Repped

It seems like a good deal for the configuration. Is there any better deal for under $500 laptops?

This is the deal I've been looking for. Got this model for my mom a couple months ago when the price was low on the Asus site and it's been great.

OK... no problem.
Remember that most 8gb RAM laptops can be easily upgraded through a second slot .......as long as it is not an Apple product.

Looks like a decent machine. Glad it comes with 16, not 8gb. When I first saw the specs I was thinking that the computer I bought in fall 2009 came with the same resolution screen (15.4 vs 16"), the same size HDD (spinny vs SSD) and the same ram (8gb DDR2 vs DDR3 I presume). Heck, even the clock speeds are similar. Of course 15 years did cut some weight, as battery life, speed up that CPU... and memory, and HDD... and cost at least $2k less.
