Have the Edifier R1280DBs from a previous sale in 2022 and they're excellent. Personally recommend going with the Edifier R1280DB as they have optical audio in and bluetooth as well.

Have the same ones paired with a Fiio DAC, the speakers are excellent but using a separate DAC made them sound even better

Not knowing enough about speakers, I thought using a DAC didn't matter when using optical audio?

You are correct, DAC is for converting from digital to analog, the ones in the deal don't appear to have optical, just BT and maybe phono/RCA plugs so you'd need a DAC if you wanted to go direct. If you are using it for things other than music, and maybe movies if your device is syncing the video to the audio, you may want to use a direct input to avoid latency.

EDIT: and, to be clear, for many things that have a headphone out you can adapt to the phono/RCA plugs. Audiophiles may call out that an external DAC may be better in those cases still, and probably at least marginally so. For most the DACs in phones and PCs today for their analog outputs are good enough for most.

I bought these back in 2018. Good speakers but I wish they had a sub out. I know there's a different model that has it, just saying that's the only thing I don't like about this model. I use them as desk speakers and use other means for my sub.

Anyone have experience with these and the Mackie CR2-X speakers? I'd like to hear your opinion. I'm looking for decent computer speakers, using for light gaming and watching movies/shows.

Are these good when paired with a 43" TV? This would be for a studio apartment.

It depends on your output from the TV. If you have a headphone output jack, these are fine. If you have only an optical output, the Bluetooth model for $99 is better.

Get the Edifier R1280DBs model. It's a better version for only $10 more. It has sub line out for better sub upgrade. And some little better sound stage.
