Ive always wondered, are these capable of toning out regular 120v circuits? Building wire, NM, mc, wire in pipe?

I've only used mine in network and automotive scenarios, but it should work on standard 120v in wall. I don't know about the other use cases.

120v yes. Wire in pipe, it'll be fine if you come in contact with the actual wire in the pipe, but placing the toner outside the pipe to see if the wire(s) are running through that particular pipe, no.

I've used one to trace romex through drywall for home renovations. (But switch the breaker first!) It did work -- just had to wave the wand around listening for the tone change.
Metal definitely interferes with the signal. I was not able to follow a wiring harness through a vehicle (looking for a short). So I would not expect it to work through conduit.
But this is a solid price. I bought one to gift an aspiring electrician.

I have this and honestly the probe is way bigger than it needs to be and the case is poorly designed for the tone generator. Now the thing is the tone generator is better then most and has a feature that when you short the two wires the tone changes which is really helpful when working on some old phone systems and having to trying to find a couple of different pairs at the same time or other odd situations in old wire wrap phone panels.

It's great for finding phone or Ethernet pairs over distance in buildings.

I know about this but can it trace other things outside of that?

It's basically a longer range two-wire continuity tester.

So the only use case is tracing a run of paired wires from end to end.

It won't do anything fancy like trace back to the breaker.

If you're on a budget, there's a much cheaper version that works identically for $17 (Klein also has their tone generator on sale for $33).

The only major difference is the generator end on this one has socketed probes, while the cheaper one is soldered in.

It looks like both use the same gauge wire, so the chances of breaking them at some point are pretty equal. Although, I can't seem to find a replacement for the Fluke.

I've tried this with my Klein toner and off brand probe. The tone was nowhere near as strong as with Ethernet cabling but I did get a tone. I did notice that I got a bleed through tone(much fainter) on wires that I wasn't expecting. Im not a professional and didn't take the time to investigate why; may be I have an old house and the wiring is a mess.

Yes it can Trace 110v on the hot wire (turn off master breaker)

Can't tone through metal conduit, but if you can find a junction box or any place it breaks out , you can do it.

You can do coax too, good for reusing the miles of abandoned RG6 that Comcrap leaves behind.

I know Fluke is a great brand, but for a bit cheaper you can get more functionality out of one of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CMRCDNB/
I'm sure the Fluke is more durable and will last longer, but for general home use the above is great especially if you run ethernet.
