The illustrations find a nice blend of It's A Small World shapes & colors while also being moody & contemplative. They were done by a design team that has also done Target kids area displays and album covers for big-name artists like Foo Fighters. Must've taken the better part of a year to take on such a project.

Even if you are not a believer (me) familiarity with these stories is crucial to a lot of western literature and stories. These tales are the foundations for a lot of the "common knowledge" western society is built off.

Likely unpopular opinion, but I bought this a few years back looking for a next step from the Jesus Storybook Bible and was not impressed. The artwork was gorgeous as expected, but the writing felt stuffy and there was a lot of editorial moralizing added to the stories. Maybe I picked bad examples to check out first, but I was turned off enough to want to keep looking.
