You can use any micro sd card with raspberry pi. You are paying for the branding just like the nintendo micro sd cards
While true, what the Raspberry Pi Foundation is doing is providing a high quality and trusted supply of SD cards. That peace of mind is pretty nice in my opinion.

From an endurance perspective I cant really say, no one has done public endurance testing on the raspberry pi cards yet. The spec sheet says it's made by Longsys (they make the amazon basics cards as well). If price is not a factor go with a well reviewed and tested model like the samsung pro endurance.
