bought a refurb h3 in January 2022, been using it for about 400 miles per month in the winter months since then with minimal issue. got my brother to buy one since then, same report for him (less mileage logged.)

side note that is relevant for slickdealers: we both mainly use zwift, although I switched to indieVelo last winter after the last zwift price increse. As someone who cares much more about training/fitness/logging miles than the social aspect of bike software: I do not see myself ever returning to zwift. $20/month is kinda nuts.

to get even deeper into free alternatives, and why I chose indieVelo over the other popular alternative: MyWhoosh (another free alternative) is primarily funded by the UAE government, so I don't feel good using it. that's a conversation for another forum, though.

While this is a good deal, I think this is the new regular price.

I have this trainer for about two years, and its been good to me. I wasusing RGT, then moved towards MyWhoosh once RGT got shut down. I'm a MTB guy, so I'm using this with a 1x drivetrain and 11-46T cassette, and it works surprisingly well at high incline levels. The trainer is a big step up from my previous fraction driven trainer. No more wheel slip. This is a smokin good deal in my opinion for those who are forced to ride indoors from time to time.

I've got a couple thousand miles on mine now and love it. Using Rouvy, I find that I love riding indoors now, as I can "ride" anywhere in the world, as well as ride with friends remotely, when we're not able to hit the road together outdoors. I haven't had an once of problems with this trainer. Highly recommended!

I've been using this daily for the past 2 years. It's been an excellent trainer for Zwift - so much so that I rarely ride outside anymore. While I wouldn't say it's better than outdoor riding, it's definitely good enough to keep me active every day, even when the weather is bad. In the first 3 months, my H3 made some screeching noises, and I almost considered returning it, but thankfully the noise went away on its own.

Idk how it compares but the new Jetblack Victory has received good initial reviews from gplama and dcrainmaker.

Totally gonna get this! Have wanted a trainer for months. Can someone clarify for me if the 11s version can be upgraded at some point to 12s with any sort of adapter?

That's going to be a different freehub.

I can't think of many reasons to hurry to put a 12spd cassette on a trainer. Is this a specific worry?

If someone has a 12-speed drivetrain then they will need a 12-speed cassette mounted to the trainer.

Sidenote, I used to have this trainer and liked it a fair bit. Had some connectivity issues with SYSTM and ultimately ended up getting a Tacx Neo 2T - which I like a lot better. This one is great for $350!

I have an 11 speed now to put on the trainer… once I do that I'll probably buy a 12 speed for the road… which someday will end up on the trainer.

I've been riding long enough to know a new bike is always on the horizon… but would prefer not to buy multiple trainers as well.

Based on what? You don't need a 12 speed cassette for a 12 speed drivetrain. I assume we are talking Shimano.

You could just use the middle gears in ERG, or adjust a limit screw. It's not a big deal.

Such a great trainer, I paid $700 for a refurbished unit two years ago. Been using it every other day in the winter.
