You obviously don't know how popular G-Shock is around the world and that there are tons of knockoffs/fakes out there, especially this "CasiOak" GA-2100 series.
Good price, this is generally above $100 at casio.
but i am not sure about genuinity of the products selling outside of Casio and few stores like Macys. other places i see lower prices, but not sure are they 100% authentic.

my opinion only. thanks.
Just check the seller, it is Amazon in this case, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I know the Oak style is hot in the market, and the face is cool, but I can't stomach paying 70 bucks for a bare bones G. Is this just post COVID normal?

Only if the stock isn't co-mingled with other sellers, which it frequently is at Amazon. I buy a lot less from Amazon regardless of seller when it comes to things that are commonly bootlegged.
The one with the gold face I find more attractive. Not getting either one though. Solar powered is my minimum. I have a solar powered Citizen that is still going strong 10+ years. The current solar powered Gshock I'm wearing I'm expecting to last decades without ever having to open it up to replace the battery.

It's easy to spot the fakes, youtube has plenty of videos.
