Something something Lightroom killer.. didn't I hear that a million times before.

I am somewhat a hobbyist and am looking for a real LR alternative for like forever. Nope, none works the same way LR does if you happen to take about few hundred pictures every time (which isn't all that much, if you use burst mode at all).

That's is because Lightroom is not just a photo editor, it is, first and foremost, a catalog, all tools and effecti within LR is nondestructive, every change is made in a "mask" saved in a database and your origin picture isn't impacted. You don't suddenly have multiple versions of the same pictures to manage. it manages all your photos, import and categorize them.

What most of the so called Lightroom killer, is actually doing Photoshop things, and they maybe pretty good at those, but Photoshop is not a Lightroom replacement, and neither is any of those product.

Don't you need subscription for Aftershoot, too?

Any idea if the photo paper can be returned while keeping the software's discount?
Sometimes you keep the discount - it isn't worth the gas or time for me but give it a try and let us know!

Or you can have the paper as an in-store pick-up item and never pick it up. BB will cancel it and refund.

I agree with you 100% Also, I am not paying a monthly subscription for software that I use maybe 1 time a year. I wish I could pay once for a decent photo editor. I am still using Photoshop 7.0 from the early 2000s but would like the effect/tools that are being used nowadays.

The subscription doesn't start until you redeem the code.
Pro tip: Just be sure to <b>turn off auto-renew</b> in your current subscription before it runs out. This may be with Adobe or with the third party you bought the last subscription from, in my case Amazon. It took a lot of chatting with a bot and Amazon human to undo my renewal.

This is a great deal, even after the purchase of $10 of unneeded product. The 1TB Photography plan is pretty consistently 50% off but rare to see a discount outside of that. You have to wonder how many people actually pay full price for it.99% of my work is in Lightroom. There is no competition for this product that has a perpetual license. I held onto Lightroom 6 (the last perpetual version) for way longer than I should have, and while I hate paying for it every year, there aren't many good options to replace it with.Anybody who says that Photopea or Affinity is a good replacement has no idea what Lightroom is used for or the workflow. This package comes with a Photoshop license and I've opened it about 5 times total. It's just not needed with Lightroom unless you are doing a very in depth edit.
Can you pls elaborate on the "consistently 50% off" part?

If you can recommend a fully-functional lightroom replacement that doesn't have a subscription model, I'd love to dump Adobe.

Adobe getting desperate. After losing so many subs, earnings dont look good. No thanks. I'm not supporting that.

Downvoted because the Adobe deal is tied to a camera purchase.

Completely agree. I hate it, but I agree.

I love CaptureOne as a photo editor - it's like Lightroom but my photos usually turn out crisper and better, to my eye. The problem with CO (and every single other "Lightroom killer" we've heard about) is that even if they're a software that isn't destructive and has good cataloging (rare!) is they don't have cloud storage in any form. So I can't edit the same catalog of photos from anywhere, like I do with Lightroom.

I can edit and export photos from my home computer, my work computer (via web browser) and my phone (via their app) and my photos look exactly the same and edits sync perfectly. Please, PLEASE find me an alternative that does this and is somehow less expensive than Adobe lol. Unfortunately it's just not happening.

Have a look at DXO Photolab 8.

So I can wait when to start the new subscription plan? Or does it start at date of purchase?
I let my annual 20GB plan expire, then waited until I needed to use PS to enter the 1TB code.
No point in wasting a week or two. Worked seamlessly.

I tried everything and still own C1 and Affinity Photo. I did come back to Adobe because integration. Recently, I was on a 3-week trip with my family. Every night during the trip, I was able to edit using LR on IPad Pro. After editing, I automatically backed up every raw I took to Adobe CC. Once I make it home, all the picture are accessible to me on my desktop app. Purely as an image editor, LR is no better or worse than C1. If you only edit locally, all those options are fine.
