the compatibility issue is the connector (TERA, GG45 were the common Cat 7/A connectors which are not "normal" connectors) But any cable can be terminated in any connector, these are terminated in the much more common RJ45 jack which you see on Cat 5/6/8 etc. Cat 7 terminated in an rj45 connector will allow the cable to perform to spec (10G) and also work with existing infrastructure. The only two possible negatives of this deal is the cable only has a 90 day warranty rather than the amazon's existing cable warranty so you'll want to deploy/test the cables shortly after purchasing as opposed to hording (standard amazon warranty is 1yr but on some cables it's listed as "lifetime" like monoprice however that seems to be getting phased out at amazon.) and that the 50' of this product (https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Bas...089MGMYFR/) as well as this 100' version is listed as a ""gigabit" cable while the standard round cable with the same specs is listed as 10G cable on amazon so there is a chance this isn't really a 600mhz cable when in "flat" mode at even 50' let alone 100' so it *might* max out at 5Gigs or less (officially if a cable can support 600mhz the specs say 10G at a maximum of 100Meters or ~320 feet.)

TLDR; you don't have to worry about compatibility for any cat7 cable listed as RJ45

No, but flat cables are fundamentally flawed. They don't have shielding or insulation. It can work for short runs but 100ft of flat cable is laughable. I'd bet they are on woot after being returned for poor performance. Please don't buy this.

I plan on using these for PoE home security cameras. I will try to remember to report back if the lack of insulation causes any interference issues but $0.10/ft for any RJ45 cable is a good price.

Best of luck, I will surprised if you can reliably power anything over a 100' run not to mention data loss due to cross talk and interference issues. For a security camera you obviously don't want to lose any data or have outages (often it's only a few frames that capture what you want to see anyways), so I would never consider using an out of spec cable… especially one like this. It's cheap per foot because it uses like half the materials of a standard Ethernet cable. You get what you pay for.

Honestly because of the low power requirements (and bandwidth requirements) you should be fine for a camera. But I'd recommend one that records to an SD card instead of a homebase to prevent problematic data issues - problematic power issues are less easily protected against, but most Poe cameras are fairly tolerant of voltage changes and again are low power usage so the thinner wire probably shouldn't be a problem with power. Hope to notice your reply as it will especially be interesting for me to hear your results through winter. (I have a ratty AF 5E cable with some electrical tape powering and connecting an outdoor AP with no issues from -10 to 110+ exposed to the weather for just under 5 years so far, I had originally installed it as a temporary cable but it hasn't given me any issues and is able to give me 300-500 Mbit from my phone so I'm happy until it fails...)
