If it was made before 2016 it has through-hole components so it's easy to mod, this one will be surface mounted so go used or build a clone if you plan on modding it.

Gah.. sadness.. I think I'll just give up - I had a 2000's one that I screwed up while doing the all seeing eye mod. Little did I know what I had

Just pay one of the pedal builders and have them do it. Well worth it for the time, parts and expertise, in my opinion. Alchemy Audio does great work on these.

Component prices are pennies and pedal modification is fun hobby, but clearly it's not for everyone.
Pro Audio Star, been buying from them for a long time. Two things to watch out for — they pack guitars by throwing them in a one ply cardboard box with no protection, and I recently returned a $119 pedal to them on Reverb — it was my bad, pedal didn't jive with active basses… They took $33 out for shipping (presumably both ways)… but it was shipped in a bag - $10.55 at most via USPS Ground Advantage. Anyhow this is a good deal and love the DS-1, but just some things to keep in mind when working with PAS for my fellow Slickdeals musicians
