But regardless, the one thing that is missing in so much conversation on cooling is the noise of the fans. All decent cases can more than likely cool the hotest components to not throttle if you have fans that can let loose. My fans max out at I think 60% applied through software because I don't want my pc to be terribly noisy (in general + i have open back headphones)
On the subjective side, if you don't want to show off your components/spend time tidying, mesh is actually better since you can't see the mess that is the cable situation within the case.

Can anyone point me to a good place to research what i need to build/buy a rig that will outperform a PS5 for Fortnite? I am considering a PC for my kid for Christmas and Fortnite is his main interest. I am fine building or even just buying something pre-built if it is more cost effective. I'm not trying to take over the world with this thing, but if I'm going to do it, I want it to be better than a PS5 (which we already have).

the biggest problem was the center motherboard standoff mount being higher than all of the surrounding mounts, which is something that i've never seen before, and i've been doing this since the '80's... my first job out of jc was at kaypro.
you can put a standoff in a vise and grind it down, but not with any precision, the mb will not be perfectly flat but it's better than nothing.
the fans are 3-pin and noisy, can't spin 'em down enough with the motherboard controller, i had to add an in-line resister with every fan to slow it down.
no fan controller included with this case, fortunately i didn't need it.

in general, a bigger case volume will take longer to heat up, so go big if you want cool temps.
imho the object should be to build a quiet case that will last thru multiple builds, so getting quality thicker fans and a better brand like lian li or fractal design ends up being quieter and cheaper in the long run.
