Last time this came up the driver support seemed highly questionable. Seems like a umc204hd would be a way better choice. $79 at Sweetwater/Amazon.

Yes, +$40, but drivers that work well, stereo monitoring, midi inputs. You will be thanking yourself.

Why even spend the money on the external interface if it's going to be just as ass as the internal one?

I had one of these before I changed to a 2i2 gen 4, my umc22 lasted 4 years before I got the craziest noise I've ever heard in my life and it would only be fixed by restarting that device. picked it up for the same price as you guys were getting it now, I think it was good while it lasted. You do have to use asio drivers.

Good enough for tuning DSP for frequency response occasionally with ECM8000 mic?

Any other recommendations compatible is Mac as well?

Unless all you want is a very basic XLR port for a mic Save your money and just buy a Scarlet Solo, This thing is a cheap solution that injects artifacts into your audio and using it as an audio passthrough adds crackling noises to your headphones.

Updating to Windows 11 solves the driver issues though.

Any recommendations for a 2-input interface on the affordable side? I don't see any reputable ones under $70 - was hoping to start a podcast!

I've been running its big brother the UMC404HD for nearly a deacade, through 4 different Macs and multiple OS versions. Aside from dropping usb connection very occasionally after sleeping, its been a great interface. As a hobbiest, it's been everything I need. The preamps have plenty of gain and good clarity with reasonably low noise.
