Thanks for the tip. I just tried with a unactivated T-Mobile sim and it changed the branding to T-Mobile. Seems the the tablet can be used with a T-Mobile sim without needing to unlock. Tried with a AT&T sim and it's network locked. For those that haven't activated the tablet yet, if you don't insert the sim card use the volume down trick, it will not install any bloatware at all. Once you insert a SIM card, it will brand the tablet and install the bloatware. It's not reversible once it's branded even if you factory reset it.https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=174370374&postcount=124&peid=d372db76-9fbc-496e-95a1-7b125f036324
Is the volume down trick too late if tablet has been activated and sim removed?. At what point does one press volume down button to remove Metro splash screen and bloatware?

If you don't insert the SIM, the tablet usually won't allow you to activate and setup the tablet. The volume down trick allows you to bypass it. The trick doesn't work anymore if it's already activated with a SIM.

Also, if you want to keep it unbranded, do not insert the SIM after. It will force a factory reset and brand the tablet. That's what happened to me. I was surprised that there were so few apps installed. Once I inserted the metro SIM, it forced a factory reset and downloaded and installed tons of garbage apps.

You can still uninstall the garbage with ADB but you won't be able to remove the T-Mobile/Metro boot screen.

The phone needs to be activated now. That's it. It will be unlocked without any issues after 365 days.

to clarify, is it necessary to set up the phone with the new line,
or is it sufficient to just activate the line while leaving the phone in its original packaging?

I believe online activation with order number has been enough to start the countdown but cannot confirm on that. I always set up the phone to avoid any issues.

please check your PM… does anyone know why we stopped getting notifications and emails of PMs,? I didn't change any settings and my settings seem OK….. are we going to be charged automatically for the 75 next month or do I actually have to cancel it? I'll check if card details are stored …. …..nobody knows exactly when the free iPhone deals will end? always so late to the party I'm surprised I got one at all.

Well after you guys answered those questions, were you able to get another phone? They must've had T-Mobile accounts in the past? or actually these companies have so much data on us cross linked to phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, contact lists, from data breaches…
I was able to order a phone after answering the questions. Yes, my sister and myself both had t-mobile in the past. We both got notified of data breaches, etc. None of us had seen any payment due to data breaches.

For those who're lucky enough to order more than two, there's a hard limit of 5 discounted phones under the Plus plan. Once you reach that limit, don't try to add another line. I totally forgot that was my experience earlier this year.

You may buy phones (e.g. some low end Androids) requiring a lower tiered plan, but I don't think they're worth buying given the new one year unlock policy. Androids depreciate much faster than iPhones.

You may be able to buy an A9+ tablet, but online ordering will only let you buy one per account.

I'm done with this deal. I still have two Visible numbers. Maybe I'll try to see if I can open a new account after the New Year, but an earlier attempt failed.
what happened when you tried to add a line after reaching 5 discounted phone limit?

It appears I might have misread you. So you mean Visible was blocking you from signing up for their service after two accounts? That's surprising since unlike Metro, they don't really check your identity. Did you use a different credit card each time (e.g. virtual number)?

I've created 5 accounts in recent days without any problem (including two created one after the other on the same day). But Metro has put a hard stop on me after my third order. So I'm left with 2 Visible numbers I won't be able to use and will have to cancel before the due date.
Do you still have visible numbers available?

You have several questions directed at me Smilie

I'm keeping one of the Visible numbers for a few months, but the "disposable" one may be blocked by Metro probably because I've used it too many times. The last port-in process was supposed to be cancelled yesterday after I called them but it didn't. I just got off the phone with the port-in department and was told they would look into why it wasn't eligible even though their record showed the port-in process had been cancelled.

I believe the cap is 5 devices under the same plan and you can only have the same plan once per account. You may be allowed to have a different plan. So if you're lucky enough to have ordered 5 iPhone's under the plus plan and try to order a 6th phone, you'll have to choose a different plan. That will disqualify you from getting the best promo for most devices. I have no interest in any other devices so I didn't try that. If you really want to order than 5, the best option is to create a second Metro account and start from scratch.

Are you guys finding that the battery is draining quickly even though it's 100% capacity? Is it normal that the battery would have drained more than 20% from 100% in 4 days without any use? And I notice it drains noticeably when I am using it for simple things, 28% battery drain for almost 2 hours of use? just downloading app, using browser and messages. would I be able to let someone else apply the prime to their Amazon account? Metro doesn't let you downgrade to any lesser monthly plan?

(what are the options /costs for battery replacement on iphones? I thought Apple made it easier for people to replace batteries themselves? I thought there was an announcement about that a while back)

If it's sold out why do they still show the 12 on the page? But it looks like you can't add it to the cart? are we going to be charged automatically for the 75 next month or do I actually have to cancel it? ..And what's all this talk about a cap of five phones per account? Wasn't that like a long time ago when the deal started? Haven't they announced since then you could only get two phones per account? And it certainly seems like people are having trouble after their second phone…

A quick workaround if metro is telling you that a visible phone # is not eligible for port in, is to request a number change with visible then try again after a day. Seems like #'s simply get flagged by Metro after so many failed order attempts. Not always the case but the free number change should do the trick.

To answer the person above. There is no exact science to how Metro decides to allow adding additional lines or how they set their limit. It's possible for metro to start declining orders after the a single line or for them to allow you to order upto 5 without a problem. The reality is for most its somewhere in between at 2-3 lines ordered spaced out between a few days before additional lines begin to receive the dreaded 'problem with your order call us' message when trying to place order. There support is not trained to troubleshoot or give specifics on exactly why an order did not go through. All they can do is clear the port request for the # that was used for failed order and then tell you to try again in a few hours. Once you get a declined order its near impossible to get one to go through on the same account.

Battery drain seems right to me, you're not gonna get a 100% battery replaced, and no you can't do it yourself without voiding the warranty, Help is-turn off 5g, turn off ask to join wifi networks and hotspot auto-turn off bluetooth-those are the main ones,
